Rudy can get 12 minutes behind Roy and 12 minutes behind our starting PG in a rotation that includes Bayless.

The reason Rudy was not used for his handle/passing last year was because we were "forced" to play Sergio with his ball dominating dribbling.

Let's for the purpose of this argument guess that Blake is still our starting PG (but you can replace him with whoever you want). Blake and Roy start in the back-court, Roy goes out, Rudy comes in and plays SG, Blake goes out, JB comes in and plays PG or SG next to Rudy. Rudy gets his 24 minutes per game, maybe more when the team goes small and runs PG, Rudy, Roy, Hedo, LMA or when the team goes big and runs Roy, Rudy, Hedo, LMA, Greg.

There is no real problem. The person that will lose minutes next year will be Batum - and that's OK - we have the time to bring him along slowly.

Again, the problem was Sergio and his need for minutes and our need to play Batum long minutes. We played a 4 guard rotation last year and had to slide Rudy/Roy to SF to find extra minutes for Rudy. All Hedo does is take Batum's minutes down from 19 to 12. Webster, Outlaw are trade bait.

    Re: Rudy may want out?

It's a lot better argument than yours.

Nate turned Rudy into the best rookie 3pt shooter in NBA history, and everyone is pissed about it. Are we positive that Nate will not expand his role after he gets out of his ROOKIE year?

    Re: Rudy may want out?

Basing McMillan's boring/almost predictable offense on an out of bounds play is not a good argument at all.

You think Rudy will be happy with 24 MPG? He played 26 MPG last year! He wants an even bigger role. These spanish players are starting to piss me off.

When you put it this way, it doesn't make sense why Rudy would be complaining; which is probably not the case....

    Rudy > Hedo.

This is Drazen Petrovic II happening all over again.

Why is it that the same people who were pissed a Prichard for not making a move, are mad we're going to make a move and it's going to squeeze minutes from people like Rudy?

I think Rudy should be our starting PG, but that's a greater debate for a slower summer day.

I think someone on blazersedge said it best:

I'd rather have Rudy for $1M than Hedo for $10M.

I was on the fence about Turkoglu the whole time, but never really liked the idea. I'm starting to really lean that way.

    Re: Rudy may want out?

McMillan's boring/almost predictable offense was the most efficient one in the NBA last year. Arguing against his offense is like saying that Walmart is a boring business, it is not exciting and innovative like Pets.com and their sock-puppet spokesman...

Of course, Walmart, being predictable and boring is huge and Pets.com is extinct...

Explain to me his predictable offense. You can show everyone your ignorance if you claim we only run isolation and pick & rolls.

It's a dangerous game. We have three young players who are going to want to start eventually. Bayless, Rudy, and Batum are all going to want to start in the long run. Bayless and Batum have a real shot of taking over at their respective positions once Hedo (if we sign him) and/or Andre Miller (if we sign him) step down. Rudy on the other hand plays a position which will never sniff the starting lineup .

Also, I'm not sure if others noticed it, but Roy and Rudy didn't play especially well together last season. When they were on the floor together, it seemed like Roy never looked for Rudy. The only guy who actively found Fernandez on lobs and screens was Sergio. Now that Sergio is gone, it's really not surprising that Rudy is mad (if he's mad).

    Re: Rudy may want out?

If we sign a top notch PG or SF, it is going to cut into Rudy's minutes. What do you people want? Make up your mind.

    Starting lineup next season:

    G Brandon Roy
    G Rudy Fernandez
    F Hedo Turkoglu
    F LaMarcus Aldridge
    C Greg Oden

Let's go big, and scrap the PG idea.

i'm not Nate lover, but he gave Rudy plenty of minutes last year, it was up to Rudy to slash or be a playmaker..he wore down as the season went on and was delegated to shooting 3's

I am sure he would want more minutes - but quite frankly - he had a lot of trouble last year with the 26MPG and was almost broken physically. If he proves it to be different next year - we can talk - until this happens - we are good, I think.

If we're gonna put Rudy in the starting lineup, I'd rather put him at PG.

The efficient offense had nothing to do with suppior offensive rebounding right?
