If you thought Aaron Brooks dribbled by Blake at will...

Oden would get 2 fouls in the first 5 minutes of every game with that line-up.

I dont know about Roy and Rudy not getting along. I think Roy was the first guy to go kick someone's ass when Ariza fucked Rudy up on "the play".

That's the detailed response I expected.

I agree. I think we could get away with it as long as Batum is our starter. Batum could defend PG's, he did a nice job against Parker last season and Roy can defend a large majority of SF's

Of course you are right. Pritchard accumulated assets like crazy. It is not a surprise that they will need to be consolidated. If there is a deal to trade Rudy for a great PG like Harris - you do it and play Bayless at backup SG. If not - there is a solution for next year - and we will sort it all out as we go along. Maybe Bayless never pans out. Maybe Rudy increases his trade value and we can get that great PG we lust after next year? Who knows?

Because you answered your own question, dork.

I'd actually love for you to explain how it isn't a predictable jump shooting offense that looked like absolute complete shit against the Rockets for at least half of that series.

I didn't say they don't get along, I said they don't play well together. Rudy runs off a lot of screens and/or cuts to the hoop a lot. Roy doesn't look for him.

If Nate was so impressed by what Rudy did in the Olympics (as has been stated previously), why would he limit him to essentially being a spot-up shooter? Even at the beginning of the year, he seemed to be more involved in the offense. The game at Miami where he hit the spin-fall away jumper comes to mind.

    Agreed.

Something to think about: Rudy was one of the few (arguably the best) players on the team to regularly get the ball to Oden in good position.

    Re: Rudy may want out?

I think you got it backwards. The superior offensive rebounding has to do with an effective offense that causes defenses to scramble and unable to block out.

Not sure about the starting lineup, but they sure would end the game for me.

But is he under legal obligation to play for Portland while under contract?

I'm guessing no. He could sign a contract with another team. He might have to pay back Portland for the first year, but I don't believe he'd even be touchable under a lawsuit as he's not a US Citizen.

I recall Rudy taking 15-20 spinning fade-away jumpers this season, and making about 5. Not something I would call a high percentage shot.

    Re: Rudy may want out?

Of course it does - but what does it matter? At the end of the day - our offense was fantastic last year and adding another playmaker that can score (something we did not have last year) - will only make it better.

The offense works, it works well and rebounding (and protecting the ball which Portland did exceptionally well, great offensive rebounders are not worth anything if the team turns the ball over and can not at least get reasonable shots) is part of it.

I don't understand how anyone could say that McMillans offense was really anything more than iso's and pick and rolls. How could you guys watch the team all season and not see how much our team struggled when the opposition took away the pick and roll, or doubled Brandon as soon as he crossed the half court line. Nate's offense IS extremely predictable. We rely too heavily on Roy to handle the ball and create, which he does so well, but often times it came back to bite us in the ass.

Was I the only one who saw teams use the pick and roll to double Roy? Brandon would sit out top, wait for the pick from Joel, but when it came, Joel's man would cut Brandon off, and Brandon's man would stay, so it would be an easy double, forcing Roy to pass or take a tough shot.

Trade him now while you can get a lot for him. He is a career back up here anyways. Go land yourself a big time Point Guard NOW!

    Re: Rudy may want out?

Depends on what happens. Rudy's value has got to be high. A very good player could be headed Portland's way. If we added Hedo and another quality starting player, then this could turn out to be very good!

I just can't wrap my head around this. We've been virtually controversy free for years now.

That's my question as well. I don't see how Rudy could break his contract and still play professionally, but this could be the case. I'm not sure how his status as a foreigner impacts him leaving the NBA while under contract.
