Over pay for the right player. I'm not saying it is Hedo but you almost always over pay for FA's because teams are bidding you up. If we don't over pay and we go with what we have we will not win a chmapionship the way the teams is structured now unless maybe Oden goes crazy next year.
I think there is a lot of angst about the move that was not made - but I think that if you read between the lines - there is a bit more to the story there. 1. Didn't Paul Allen have some health scare (cancer or something like that) at the time? 2. We have heard from KP that Allen now told him to go for it. Combine the two - and maybe there just wasn't authorization to make these big moves before, but there is now - when Allen is supposedly feeling better, and the team proved that they did not just make it to the playoffs - but actually got HCA...
Define overpaying. I don't think 5 years 50 million is overpaying for a 29 year old SF who is a huge upgrade. I don't think trading spare parts like Travis and Blake for a player like Hinrich is overpaying either. I definately don't think trading a contract for Vince Carter and his contract would have been overpaying at all.
Well you make it sound like if KP doesn't make a move, he has blown it. My thought is I hope KP isn't feeling so much pressure as to enter into a bad contract. What if the 60 mil rumor from toronto is true. KP could dump the euro prospects, give away a player worth 3 mil (useing the trade exception) to create more cap room or extend a contract and pay Hedo a lot more (70 mil over 6 years). The Cater idea was raised during the trade deadline . . . I don't know if there was any truth to it, but I didn't see a lot of posters saying KP should make a move for Cater (just the oppostie). Maybe you were one of the posters thinking KP should trade for Carter, but most didn't like the idea at the trade deadline.
I think it's obvious, to even the most die hard bakers in here that we need an upgrade. This would make two opportunities, very well maybe our last two for a while, go by without improving the team.
So what the fuck? Which one is it? Is it prepared to offer, or out of the running? Christ Quick!!!!!!
Well if it's true what Quick says then we're Hedo's only suitors. Detroit is looking to get Ben Gordon and CV so they can't sign him. If Orlando is offering 7.3 million then we should be able to get Hedo for a little bit more than that maybe 8 or 8.5 mill a year. Memphis might screw it up but we'll see.
I think you have to overpay for Turk to get him out of Orlando. They just went to the finals and Turk knows they're contenders, especially now with VC15.
That is my question to you . . . does a 70 mil dollar contract over 6 years for Hedo "improve the team"? We already offered 50 million . . . should KP up the offer to lock in Hedo?
I think Memphis is going after Lee according to hoopshype rumors. That would eliminate them as well. Frankly, I don't want a player here who would choose to go to Memphis anyway. The money is more, and I know that's important, but no chance at all to win. I want guys like Bayless who would kill and eat his family to win a game.
I don't think so. Hedo's looking for the money, most of these players think in terms of dollar signs and not what the name on the front of the jersey is going to say.
Memphis would screw the Blazers if they could . . . but not if it is going to cost them money. No way they make a big offer for Hedo.
