Zach has consistently had career nights against Memphis, so it makes sense they've long been rumored to want him.

Zach, Marc Gasol, and Thabeet ... seems like an awkward combination to make fit.

    C: Gasol

I think that's a potentially very good lineup... offensively. Defensively? Even plugging Thabeet in for Gasol... meh.

gives them 20/10 next year and points on the board....then is a HUGE expiring contract the following season.

    pretty win-win for them.

The real issue will be guys competing for touches on that team next year. Between Mayo, Gay and Z-Bo? Yikes!

I feel sorry for Mike Conley -- so many mouths to feed so few basketballs.

but ZBo is a good rebounder, he'll catch a lot of those bricks.

zach puts up an inefficient 20/10 without passing the ball and while playing terrible defense. he won't help the team win games.

richardson was already an expiring deal in a season where teams are going to be in love with expiring deals at the deadline with hopes of lebron, wade, and bosh. oh and it cost them 7 mil in cap space this season just to do the deal.

i don't see anything win win about it.

You're wrong about Z-Bo's offense -- he's actually pretty efficient and has really good range on his jumper -- but you're spot on regarding the other end of the floor; defensively he's about as effective as wet toilet paper at stopping anything.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
He's not a particularly inefficient scorer (nor is he particularly efficient). He scores his 20 PPG on relatively average efficiency and his rebounding is perfectly legitimate. He's a poor passer and defender, though.

He'll make them better, IMO, since he's not replacing a significantly better defender but he will provide significantly more post offense to complement their perimeter scorers and significantly more rebounding. They'll still be a sub-.500 team, especially in the west, due to their lack of defense.

I'm taking this as Memphis feels they don't have the ability to attract and sign free agents the next few seasons, they'd rather just get a player with talent but drawbacks in ZBo while trying to gather young potential.

Absolutely fantastic deal for the Clips, they could have $27 million in cap room next offseason.

Edit; this makes the Pau Gasol trade extremely puzzling to me. Why take a salary dump to unload an all-star then next offseason grossly overpay for a far inferior player? A franchise with no direction and poor planning.

In a matter of years, Zach has been traded for Frye and now Quentin Richardson. Wow that really sucks.

As well as Cutino Mobley who was diagnosed with a heart condition during the trade physical that would lead to retirement.

    Re: OT: Grizzlies get Z-bo

They can always bring back ZBo's pal Darius.

I have to say I feel sympathy for guys like Rudy Gay and Mike Conley. Hopefully they'll go to a better place when their rookie deals expire (
