Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone I don't think he'll take the MLE from another team. If he can't get more than that, he'll sign with us. I do think, however, he'll take an offer from either Portland or Toronto.
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone Yeah I totally think we can sign him back, but I just think Artest is better. He's a better shooter and defender, and can even dribble a bit. Just get him to take a few less shots and the winning in LA would sober him up.
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone If Ariza doesn't re-sign we should take a look at Marquise Daniels to replace him. His game is suited for the Triangle. He's another player I've always wanted to see in the P&G. He's a throwback player and has the mid-range game to thrive in our offense.
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone Some guy at BSPN stated that Trevor is talking to Cleveland, and says he feels it was a slap in the face that the Lakers only valued him as a MLE level player. He feels unappreciated, and will take the Cav's MLE over the Laker's. It's from BSPN so who knows. I think it's bullshit though.
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone Broussard or w/e his name is. Dude is wrong. It is BSPN... Yeah, when Indiana didn't pick up the option on Daniels, I knew you were salivating Shape. I remember a few years back you wanted him.
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone Broussard is the one starting this rumor? Ah man I feel relieved now. He's never broke a story. Let's see what Woj says in the morning on Yahoo.
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone If your boss offered to double your salary would you feel it was a slap in the face?
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone You think he'd be a good pickup, replacement for Trevor, Shape? I think he's a solid player, but I don't see him replacing what Trevor gives us. At least Ron has all the talent in the world. How are we gonna get him anyways? Will we have to use up part of our MLE? I still believe my plan would work out fine. Upgrade the PG spot with the MLE, and add a vet like Grant Hill. Hill's production wouldn't be a dropoff from Trevor at all. I hope Mitch at least thinks about it, because from Trevor + LO to Daniels + LO is a downgrade IMO.
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone If he leaves... I hope he goes to some random team. Not a contender...worst case scenario, no matter who we get (Artest,Bibby,Odom,etc...); we will basically have lost a key weapon to an enemy.
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone We still have contracts we can use to trade for a point guard. Hill is old and has been pretty injury stricken throughout his career.
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone Sign & Trade with Indiana would be an option. Trade them Morrison for Daniels. Larry Bird was a big fan of AMMO and if AMMO doesn't work out they still have him for an expiring contract. I think the Lakers should go ahead and re-sign Odom to send a message to Ariza and his agent. There's plenty of athletic wings. Shawn Marion anyone? I could make an argument Daniels would be better than Ariza. Something Ariza can't do yet is create off the dribble. Most of his points come off steals in transition or shots created by teammates. Marquise Daniels can handle the basketball and is efficient at getting to the rim and finishing in traffic. Ariza has more upside than Daniels, but he has to understand the Lakers aren't going to overpay him for his potential.
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone I just checked MD's stats and they better than I expected. One thing though, doesn't seem like he can hit a 3 to save his life. With the lineup we have out there, Pau/Drew in the paint, isn't that pretty important? Especially if you're starting? He also seems very injury prone. But I agree with you guys, resign LO and Shannon first. Amazing how much bitching David Lee does to the media, and LO's agent hasn't said a word. Keep it in house. Resign those two, and try to sign Trevor, or if they want to be a bitch about it, find his replacement, or explore other options.
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone Trevor couldn't hit a jump shot to save his life either when we acquired him. Marquise Daniels can post up and draw fouls to earn 3 points the hard way. I'm sure he could develop a more consistent outside shot with hard work like Trevor did. Yeah Daniels has been injury prone, but those are risks you take with anyone in the league.
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone I want Riza back, I just think the chances are slim. He's got his ring, he wants to get paid.
Re: BSPN: Ariza likely gone I have no problem with him wanting to be paid, but I hope he leaves LA with class if he does decide to make a run for the money.
