    But he's not a guard.

And...? Stop dwelling on position names and start looking at the situation.

Rudy may be technically "wrong", but his concerns for minutes are legit.

Is it possible that Rudy doesn't know what position Hedo plays? We did play Orlando twice last year, right?

And who are the 'almost 6' guards?

I probably love Rudy as much as anyone and take a fair bit of stick off my friends for my unnatural man crush on him all the way back to the day he decided he was coming to Portland...

But he is not a starting NBA SG (at least yet)

He's super sub that can cover 2.5 positions. Perfect 6th man to provide energy and offense if the first unit isn;t getting off.

Not to mention he is obviously a crunch time player and would be on the floor a lot late in games.

He would not start on ANY of the contending teams. I hope he realizing if he want a ton of minutes, he'll be doing it on a poor team.

Deleted. I only ever commented on the fact that he said/thinks Hedo is a guard.

I didn't make any other declaration you Deleted.

I think the minutes Roy got at the 3 could be transfered to the 1 since Hedo can handle the ball so much better then our other 3's. So while Rudy's concern is legit I think it could also be dismissed by Pritchard and/or Nate.

    Roy
    Rudy
    Turk
    LaMarcus
    Greg

That would be my starting lineup. We don't need a true point guard with three ball handlers in there.

How do you plan on defending the opposing point guard?

Good question. On the other hand, how does the opposing team intend to defend Roy with a smaller PG?

Well we didn't last year and won 54 games. :)

In a pinch we can put Batum on the PG, or Pendergraph.

That's the risk you take with starting a big guard. They'd most likely stick the SG on Roy and the PG on Rudy, since Rudy is more of a specialist. It's not like there are many players in the league that can guard Roy 1-1 anyways.

marca is about as reliable as shooter. every half assed football (excuse me, soccERRRR) rumor about a spanish player is usually linked a back to something absurdly out of context published by marca.

They have to guard us. Rudy or Roy will be able to handle it as well as Blake did. Blake rarely stayed in front of penetrating guards.

Outlaw had 28 mpg last year.
Frey had 12 mpg last year

Why can't we give Hedo 32 mpg of those 40 mpg. Can't Hedo be effective playing that many minutes at backup PF?

That leaves up to 8 additional mpg for Rudy.

How about a trade of Tyrus Thomas and the rights to Omer Asik for Rudy Fernandez. Bulls kind of need a shooting guard now.

Portland's needs from Chicago's roster are:

    1. Hinrich
    2. A backup PF

Given Hinrich's salary - it will have to include Blake, Travis and something...

I really doubt however that Rudy is going out - but if he is, it will be for a very big upgrade. Tyrus Thomas and a virtual Turk will not get it done...

So we are sacrificing defense for offensive? Oden was bad enough with Blake guarding the PG, I can't imagine how quick he would foul out with Rudy guarding the PG.

    Why doesn't this work?

    Code:
    		C	PF	SF	SG	PG
    Roy	36 8	18	10
    LA	36 36
    Turk	32 12	20
    Rudy	30 30
    Batum	20 20
    Oden	28	28
    Pryz	20	20
    Blake	22 22
    Bayless	16 16
