That was wild... I was next to the Sounders fans. I never knew American soccer fans got that crazy. Those hooligans were entertaining. The fight and subsequent arrest was also entertaining.

Funniest thing I heard was all the Sounders chanting "Seattle Sounders" and then some Timbers fans chanting "Oklahoma City Sounders"

It was actually a very good game. Timbers were overmatched, but played hard. If Portland gets an MLS team, I might actually think about springing for season tickets.

Great crowd! Live soccer matches are a lot of fun. Bring on MLS.

Where did the fight happen? I didnt see anything. I was in 108 though. But yes Timber's were overmatched but did well. I did get sick of all the Sounder's players "getting hurt" though, That water bottle was so close to hitting #23 dang it. Portland will get an MLS team though it just doesnt start until 2011.

It was over in the garden area over by the MAC. Some rabid sounders fans were kind of stalking the chainsaw guy at the end of the game and were being real assholes. Then some Timbers fans told them to go back to their section. One Timbers fan "deflagged" the makeshift flag one of the fans was waving which started some shoving and fighting which the puny little event staff tried to stop. The Sounders fan wouldn't stop so he got tackled by police and removed. Honestly though, some of those Timbers fans deserved to get kicked out too, but I think those Sounders fans were definitely trying to start something. Drive 3 hours down to portland to watch a soccer game and get arrested? Sounds like a poor use of your time to me.

Edit: I was in 122 literally on the border of the Sounders faithful. The fight was down on the deck in front of me.

Dude it tagged him right in the nuts. I was sitting at the bottom of 104, so that happened right in front of me. The whole section went nuts and started doing the "we're not worthy" bow in the general direction of where the water bottle came from.

Yeah Timbers were overmatched... but they actually played pretty well. If not for the first quick goal... and then I didn't see why they called off the header the Timbers hit in... how are we offsides on a set play like that? Anyway... was a great game.

Timbers headed on in in the first half... then I was waiting for them to set ball at mid field and they took a goal kick. Sound system is so horrible I couldn't understand anything they were saying over it. I assume it was offsides... but I couldn't tell. No replay... no soundsystem. That part sucked a least.
