No need to get any longer contracts.

Scola may be the only guy I'd keep, and his contract is up next season
And the Rockets can go after a big name

I don't think there is any untouchable guy on the roster

From respectable to a top pick in the draft next year.

    Have fun.

I wonder if this is the year the Rockets really start regretting trading the rights to Rudy Gay for Shane Battier. At the very least, he'd have given him the scorer they're going to desperately need this year with Yao potentially being done for season and with TMac probably missing the first couple months of the season recovering from his surgery.

The Shane trade was based on a 3 year window

TMac and Yao constantly injured, is what makes that deal look bad

Artest would have put us over the top if all healthy. We failed at that too.

The Rockets don't desperately need a scorer next year. Championship is no longer a short term goal. Without Yao and without McGrady, they weren't going to do anything this season anyways. Rudy Gay doesn't change that. Now they're rebuilding, and the next step is to position themselves to add a real star to the team. Rudy Gay isn't the type of star talent you build a winning team around.
