I actually think it's an Horry/Bowen thing when they guard Dirk...it's a matchup thing, when we run the pick and roll, it switched out Bowen and Horry in most cases. But in tonights game, he got switched onto Finley, TD, and even Tony P...LMFAO.Great win, and Koopla, I wouldn't be so confident, TD has been struggling, and doesn't look like he's getting better. Tony P did seem tentative tonight, and if that's a trend it'll be something to see in the playoffs when the Mavs have both Griffin and Devin Harris to guard him.Basically, the season split, both winning a game at home and away, is a sign of things to come. This will be a seven game series in the playoffs, and probably the best series once again. And people DO need to get off Dirk for one blowup in one playoff series last year. He's been in the playoffs for 5 years strait, and he's blown up once, it'll happen. And actually that shows that he has the fire you want in a leader, I'll take that once every couple of years, and his lead by example the rest of the time, than someone who is always talking all the time, and griping all the time.
Holy CRAP, Koopa, you think Dirk sucks in the playoffs? There are two things I need you to check:1. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/dirk_nowitzki2. My signatureYeah, as for #1, it would be REALLY nice if you scrolled down to where it says Playoffs and take a look at his averages.26-10 guy in the playoffs *cough* *cough*
Don't tell him that Wagas, he lives off the same old stereotypes that haunt Dirk and the Mavs...chokers and soft.Oh and the Dirk blew up last season at his teammates once, and now he's labeled as a finger pointer, I mean he's only made the playoffs six strait year is all...and that one time is the big one that everyone seems to remember.Oh and he's the easiest guy to shut down, jsut throw a little guy on him...I mean all of them seem to shut him down...lol.
i base my opinion from year to year, not what he's done in the past because that's to far back, as of now he can't step up after calling everyone out. if he wouldn't have acted like a hoe i wouldn't have cared, but the fact that he singled out a teammate and started throwing a hissy fit in game six is what got on my nerves
And what makes that different than the other 40 guys that do that year to year, including stars?I mean crap, it's an emotional, physical game...it just got the better of him.And I'm still not ready to say he blew up all that much, maybe he was just learning on the fly of how to be a leader, and maybe he did it wrong, but that's his job. It's not our job to say he's right or wrong, when none of us have been in that situation. One blowup doensn't make him a bad teammate or a bad leader...he's still young, and still growing into his role as his teams leader.
well i guess i am no longer allowed to have an opinion eh?? and i think those players that call out their teammates are bitches too, if you a leader don't call ppl out put them on your back and carry the team to victory instead of have a hissy fit during the game. and dirk called out dampier talkin to the press not during a game
Dude, Dirk did not CALL OUT Dampier because of frustraton, he did it to INSPIRE HIM.LOOK AT DAMPIER'S INCONSISTENCY THROUGHOUT THE REGULAR SEASON. DO YOU NOT THINK NELLIE TRIED TO FIX HIM BEHIND THE SCENES!?!?Nellie tried to fix Dampier privately, and Damp still didn't do anything, so what's the point?Dirk obviously knew what was going on behind-the-scenes, so he knew that if Damp had ANOTHER inconsistent game, the Mavs couldn't try and fix him in private, but they had to call him out in the press!!And guess what?Next game, even before the game started, Dirk and Damp were exchanging high 5's, and Damp had a nice game.So here's my point:When Mavericks try to inspire Damp behind-the-scenes --> Damp will still play inconsistentlyWhen Dirk Nowitzki calls out Dampier to play better in Game 4 --> Damp plays well.
yeah but after he called out dampeir he didn't play any better himself, he may have scored his points but it was on <Censored> shooting night, but it's pointless to argue with you cause i read in another thread you are the biggest homer on the forum so i guess i'm done

Well you did diss him by calling him the biggest homer on the board. And that label isn't fair, everyone on here has their own opinions, and most, if not all of them, are homers in there own right. He defends Dirk, rightly in my mind, and he's a homer.Dirk did what tons of leaders have done in the past, including guys like Kobe and Shaq, MJ, and Charles Barkley have done in the past.

Okay the first time a Spurs player throws a hissy, and it's happened before, noone has made a big deal about it before like you and others have about Dirk blowing up ONE FREAKIN' TIME!!!Oh and by saying "It's pointless to argue with you cause I read on another thread that your the biggest homer" is basically saying you agree with him, or believe whoever said that, therefore YOU did call him a homer too.
well that thread that i read it in, was who's the biggest homer on this board, and it seemed like everyone pretty much agree, and i've never seen wagas post before until yesterday in this thread though so i was just going on what they said......and i do talk constant <Censored> about parker for chokin late in the playoffs year after year so if i saw a spurs player do that i'd talk <Censored> about him too.
Yeah but you just say Tony P chokes, you have gone so far as to say that Dirk is a bad guy because of that blowup, then his consequent play, like he wasn't stepping up, when the guy had bronchitis of all things. But as long as your being fair, and I see you coming out hard agianst some people who are bad teammates, than it's all cool.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>excuse??? i didn't say we lost cause of tony, we lost cause ya'll outplayed us, i'm just saying what i've been saying since four years ago, and what i said when we were up on the spurs board, parker is a little <Censored> when you touch him</div>To say something to the effect of Parker playing like a <Censored> in a thread about the Mavs/Spurs which resulted in a loss for Spurs came off to me as an excuse. Oh well.
Look, Dirk is in NO WAY a bad teammate. In fact, one time (I forgot against who), Nowitzki got into a bit of a serious mode, and the other guy pushed Dirk. DeSagana Diop came running to Dirk and made himself a shield. As for as for other things, one time Avery was yelling at Diop for some bad defensive plays, and right after that, Dirk came up to him, gave him a few words of encouragement, and patted him on the head.
