i guess colangelo is banking on marion adding his cerebral nature again to the team
Stupid. I can grudgingly accept having to pay him $8mill a year, but not for 4 years. If you're tack on that extra year for an aging player, his yearly cap hit should decrease. I'm hoping this rumour is bogus, since I would've thought Colangelo would just sign/trade him if negotiations were that off. But, Grange is usually spot-on with his reports. Not good news...
agree. the term is the most disconcerting, he'll be 35 years old by the end of the contract. plus, lets be honest- no one else on the open market could pay him more than the mle and i havent heard of any team willing to even give him the mle.
That's what confuses the hell out of me. Where exactly does this number come from, after BC told us he wanted to pay $18-21mill/3 years and Marion's drawn virtually no interest around the league? Maybe Colangelo's overreacting because he's afraid any decent FA's will be off the market by the time Marion's signed?
I have a feeling it;s not only front loaded, but the last year will have an option, I'm just hoping it's a team option.
let him go, its not like marion is the second coming of james worthy. i rather retain the salary wiggle room than mortgage the future on an aging marion
I'm hoping for that too, but I don't think I've ever seen a team option on a contract for a player of Marion's calibre.
i find it hilarious that marion is being offered more money than what ron artest and a young ariza received yet marion is upset. clearly these negotiations demonstrate how delusional ball players are. its kinda reminiscent of how spreewell turned down a 10 million per year deal because he couldnt feed his family and now the bank foreclosed his home.
apparently hedo hammered out an agreement with the blazers; i dunno the raptor related implications but there has to be some ripple effect
under the fuckin unbelievable headline: marion wants 5 yrs and 50 million http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4305237
32 mill, for 4 years isn't bad for Marion. It is a pretty reasonable contract. However I don't think he is the missing piece to get the Raptors to the playoffs. We really need to get a legit big man that actually plays big (understandably they aren't easy to find). Bosh is mediocre defensively. He has very little defensive presence.
