http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=13174 So essentially, Mitch offered Trevor pretty much the same exact deal he ended up signing with Houston, maybe even one million more. Lee took offense because he wanted a 50 million dollar deal, went bitching. With Trevor's future in doubt, and the way Lee was handling things, Mitch couldn't allow the possibility of Trevor leaving for another team AND Ron Artest signing with Cleveland, so being the Jerry West protege he is, went in and scooped up Artest. Crazy story, but I'm glad how everything worked out. * emplay works inside the Lakers organization and has insider info
I found an interesting post on LG, how not to negotiate a contract. Pretty much breaks down every single failure David Lee made, which is a lot. http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=93329 Again, how does he still have a job. Trevor could've represented himself better than Lee.
I think Artest was probably Plan A. Hoops World said that the Bulls were bringing back Gordon, and also said that Amare to the Bulls was a done deal at the trade deadline.
emplay knows what he's talking about, and has been right multiple times in the past. Trevor was plan A.
from my days at the hoopsworld forums I can tell you I don't truly trust Eric's information, the Laker fans there were generally disappointed with his Laker stuff
Well his track record has been good recently. Doesn't matter if it was Hoopsworld or not. If you know anything about the Lakers organization, and how they operate, you know they don't kick players to the curb.
Yeah, Eric went through a rough stretch, but he has been spot on lately. I believe this. Lee fucked Trevor over.
I know there was a stretch during Eric coming through the ranks a lot of his sources used him to relay messages they wanted out to the public, but weren't necessarily true. It's a tough business to be in because people are going to jerk the media around all the time and then say "well it's never certain until a contract is signed." I'm sure Eric has better sources now, more patience to report, and more respect from the people he gets information from. The Lakers did want Ariza back because they know what to expect from him and team chemistry from a championship team is something you don't really want to tinker with. I really feel bad for Ariza through all this mess his agent created. He has to play for a less promising team and for less money and live in Houston of all places. If I were Ariza I would not sign the Houston deal and dump David Lee to prevent him from any commission check.
Wow, what a douchebag. He really expected us to give him a $10mil a year deal? Not a chance a role player like Trevor is worth that. He completely fucked his own client over.
