David Lee is more mobile than Turkoglu and has good lateral quickness. If this is the direction KP wants to go in, we have to find a way to get him playing time. You don't want to pay a guy $10m/per to come off the bench. LaMarcus is a face up PF; David Lee is a garbage man and can slash a bit. Their games can work - together. PG: SG: Roy SF: Lee PF: Aldridge C: Oden
Lee starting at 8.5 and Krypto-Nate starting at 6.5 in S&Ts would give them 6yr/49M for Nate and 6/63M for Lee. We trade them Travis and Blake so that they get useful players this year and more space next summer. Then we figure out if we can send Joel for Battier, and Voila! Nate/Bayless/Mills Roy/Rudy Battier/Batum/Webs/Cunningham LMA/Lee/Pendergraph Oden/Lee
I don't see Lee playing a lot of 3, but he and LMA can be on the floor together as 4/5 when Oden sits.
I would love to get both Lee and Robinson. Our big rotation would be stellar and rebounding will be at the top of the NBA, especially if Oden can start playing 33+ minutes and Lee can play some SF when not backing LMA Question, how much SF does lee play?
Zero. None. Nada. He's much less mobile (both laterally and north to south) than Aldridge, and has a much more inferior outside game. Lee or LA at SF DOES NOT WORK!
I can't see ourselves paying $10 million a year for a back-up power forward no matter how talented David Lee might be. Those minutes belong to Aldridge and any ideas of either of them trying to play SF are delusional. It wouldn't work. We need a legitimate starting point guard or small forward for the money we are trying to toss around. God damn you Hedo Turkoglu.
I'm quite happy to acquire Lee and Nate R. But I'd keep Blake and trade them Outlaw, Bayless and Pick. Blake/Nate/Mills (perhaps Mills is our future - time will tell) I'm not a Bayless fan. Sorry to those who are! But I like Mills as a prospect. Roy/Rudy Batum/Webster/ (potential weak spot - serious weak spot - if Webster can't play) In this instance, Grant Hill might be valuable. LMA/Lee/Claver Oden/Pryz/Pendergraph
I can't see us going after Lee. It'd be a panic move to prove that we can use our cap space on something. I'd actually rather wait for next year's trade deadline where we'd have more cap space, and other players become more available than make a dumb signing. Of course, KP would have to finally relent and actually give up something in value to get something back, which hasn't been his MO yet.
As I've said repeatedly, the David Lee interest on the part of the Blazers seems very weird. It seems like it's been consistently reported... a very extended stream of BS if there's nothing to it, that's for sure. This makes it sound like Lee's agent is just talking it up to drum up SOME interest, doesn't it? With Memphis trading for Zach, there aren't a lot of bidders I can't imagine. Ed O.
There's no PT for him on this team! Everyone say it with me now.......... POINT GUARD POINT GUARD POINT GUARD
You're paying Miles 9M next year to be someone else's backup/rehab project (and I'm not sure if i mean drug-related or injury-related). You paid Raef 13M this year You paid Stevie Franchise 20M this year. I'm all about paying players that will play for us at a high level, myself. You're not? Do the backup minutes count differently than the regular minutes? How about rollover minutes? THEY DON"T EXPIRE!
I love the people in this thread who are clamoring for Nate Robinson and fail to realize that Bayless is twice the prospect and has the potential to do everything Nate does, but better and at a fraction of the cost.
All the David Lee stuff that has come around this whole year all came from the NYPost. Sorry, I'm not buying this AT ALL.
If the Blazes sign Lee or even Milsap, it is out of desperation. Both are very good players, but both play a possition that we have a very good player at. It is not a need at all and neither can play SF.
