Well its been obvious that Dampier has been more effective on the bench. Dampier/Diop both get the same minutes even if one starts over the other. Dampier has really turned into likeing him bench role. As for Diop im happy for for him to be a starter. I know his offense is no where, but we have other players for that. I've enjoyed what Mavs have done with him this year. Keep him as a starter
^Agreed, plus we've played our best basketball since Diop was moved to starter and Damp to the bench.Damp and Diop both liket their roles, and I'm happy with that as well.Plus look at it like this, Diop may not be offensively challenged, but he hasn't been run over by any starting center he's faced. He's not the best center in the league by any means, but when he stays out of foul trouble, he can hold his own.On the other hand, Damp IS the best backup center in the league, and he pretty much dominates the other 2nd sting bigs he faces, and even the starting Centers he goes up against, since he's coming in rested of the bench, while the starters are being worn down.
Well Damp has always been the better player. Diop starting benefits Damp as he will be able to come into the game and not worry about touch fouls. So I would keep Diop starting. Have you guys noticed that if Diop gets into foul trouble early, Avery brings in Benga so he can bring in Damp at the same time every game. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Dampier/Diop both get the same minutes even if one starts over the other.</div>I think Damp gets more minutes then Diop does.
Yeah I agree. Putting in Diop first is setting it up for the best time to put Dampier in to take advantage of the second team. It also keeps him out of foul trouble and refs usually like to make a statement at the beginning of a game by calling a lot of fouls to avoid it from getting too physical. Diop might've suffered a little bit from starting but he is no liability. Same thing with Mbenga.
Five words on thison't fix what's already fixed.Besides that, it's easier for Damp to miss the first half of first quarter, so that his chance of foul trouble goes down.
