LOL, nice love the whispers of Cyprus there

I have no idea who those guys are. High risk and pray for high reward?

Edit: After further review, Diamantidis is an intriguing prospect. The other guy does little to nothing for me...

How about someone that will actually sign with us?

    Preferably a PG or SF.

Exactly. Seriously folks other then Brandon Bass there aren't too many guys left who are content to be 2nd fiddle types. We could get Millsap or Lee but only if we were planning on trading Joel and having LMA be the center in the 2nd unit with a true PF (Millsap, Lee) or trading LMA (risky!) for a top shelf proven PG (Harris, Rondo **takes hit off pipe** CP3).

I think going balls out for Sessions and then doing later trades regardless of the outcome (Battier, Landry for Przybilla and one of Outlaw/Blake/Rudy) is the best course at this point. If we go balls out for Sessions and can't land him, we do the Houston trade anyways and the worst case scenario is this:

    PG Bayless/Blake/Mills
    SG Roy/Battier/Bayless
    SF Battier/Batum/Roy
    PF LMA/Landry/Cunningham
    C Oden/LMA/Pendergraph.

What's more we have that plus all that cap space until draft day on 2010 (June 30th, 2010) when we can try again for a PG. Who knows what the landscape will look like then.

    More on Diamantidis.
And more: his nickname is "the Octopus" because of his absurdly long arms, and he's was voted best defender in the Euroleague this year:

Here is a list of UFA's and RFA's that are upgrades over what we have already. Big or small, they are upgrades.

ATL: Childress, Williams, Bibby. Bibby isn't a huge upgrade, but still an upgrade

    CHA: Felton

    DAL: Kidd

    DEN: Kleiza

    LAL: Odom

    MIL: Sessions

    PHI: Miller

    PHO: Hill

    TOR: Marion, Graham

This list doesn't include PF's like Bass, Verajao, Milsap, Lee

It also doesn't include guys with big contracts that teams might want to move.

At this point playing Rudy at PG would get us pretty close to what Bibby gives us, perhaps more.

We want to improve our guard skills. Felton is not a great PG. He's a nice enough guy, and quick enough and a decent defender, but I'm underwhelmed. I'd prefer Sessions by far.

Dallas has offered three years, $25M. You really want to top that?

    Meh.

    Agreed.

    Agreed.

See earlier comment: we'd have to change the style of play. Has he ever played with a good big man? Why don't his teammates seem to like him?

Ten years and several surgeries ago, maybe. Now he's a poor man's Josh Childress.

Marion, I believe I have covered. Graham? Joey Graham? You're joking, right? You didn't mention Parker, who is actually more interesting than either guy you listed, but has a big offer waiting from Real Madrid.

Man, reading the two posts above is making me depressed.

WTF did KP do at the deadline?

Ok then, Let's do nothing and lose in the first round again. Get another shitty draft pick. Let all of the other teams in the WC improve. Watch another TD go by with nothing done.

I get the horrible feeling that Odom would be an absolute bust and has only been playing for a contract.

Wow....you have absolutely no faith in the current players do you? That's good to know.

    We should he?

Being the 2nd youngest team in the league last year and improving from 41 to 54 wins is no reason to believe this team could continue to get better.

Clearly the majority of our players have peaked and are already on their decline.

Obviously you were being sarcastic, but equally obviously we can't afford to decide just to stand pat. If there is truly nothing worth getting out there fine. But if he has any shot at alot of the guys MM mentioned KP should go for it. If we're absolutely convinced that Bayless is the future the lets trade Blake and outlaw for a backup vet pg and a vet starting SF or PF.

I'm not one of the "up on a ledge" folks who thinks we're doomed. Far from it. Even if we stand pat we will improve, possibly greatly, but that is not a good reason why we should avoid doing a consolidation trade/lopsided trade and add talent.

I agree with you. If we can get one of those guys for a good price, then we should try to improve the team. However, signing a guy to a horrible contract just so we can say we didn't waste our capspace would be a short-sided move for a team with long term aspirations. I don't want to have a guy like David Lee with 3 years, $30 million+ left on his contract after we've used him as a backup and nobody wants to take that contract off our hands.

Other people (not you) are going full doom and gloom with this team and it's a bit much.

Totally agree with you on all points. I'm only high on Lee if he is part of a further trade such as Przybilla + Outlaw for Battier and Landry.

I for one feel we pulled one of these when we didn't sign Turkoglu.

I completely agree. I really think that our team should be around the 56 win mark this year which should be good for the third o fourth seed. Besides the Spurs and the Lakers, none of the other western conference team have gotten any better and in fact, Houston looks to be significantly worse. So the doom and gloom crowd seems to be overreacting.

I honestly think the blazers are going to to make a move, but it may not occur for while.

I saw that Hoopsworld thing and it did not make me happy AT ALL. Two players who are anything but good lockerroom guys.
