Outside of Portland AND Detroit - coincidentally the two teams that have experienced the jekyl and hyde show that is Rasheed Wallace. Just because the Celts signed him doesn't mean it was a smart move - look at their acquisition of Starbury.
Some people have their mind made up that, no matter what he does or how many times he wins a championship, Rasheed will never have a chance at the HoF. Whether it's because they have looked at numbers and thought it through or just don't like Mr. Wallace depends on the person. Ed O.
That totally blew up in their face, didn't it? I can't believe he took KG out like he did... what a jerk. A bit more seriously: there's a difference between a mid-season acquisition after a guy gets waived by his team and a MLE-level free agent acquisition in the offseason. Ed O.
I think he should be in the HOF, but I don't think him being on a 2nd team to win the title would be a deciding factor. There are a lot of factors that play a role, (see: Artis Gilmore) and I think Rasheed's reputation hurts him more than his stats help him. Kind of like how he had the ability to be really really good doesn't play a role in this party.
I was sort of apathetic about them... this puts them into a team I'll root for in the East, though. Ed O.
What people tend to forget about Sheed, is that he is not a leader. With Billups gone, the Pistons had no strong team leader. When the train jumped the tracks, Sheed just went along for the ride. That won't be an issue in Boston, with KG, Pierce, and even Rondo being strong, alpha male types.
I disliked the C's a bit because of KG, but now I'll probably root for them. Not a lot, but over the Cavs or the Magic. barfo
Ugh.. I hate Boston so much.. nearly as much as LA, but love Sheed. If KG goes down again, though, the Celts now have a competent fill-in with Sheed. That's a great move for them as they hang on to every last hope for a title run.
Wallace was absolutely terrible in the playoffs this year, shot 41% in the regular season (35% from 3), and gave up on his team. A minor signing for Boston, and maybe a step down from what a healthy Leon Powe gives them off of the bench, but if Boston wins a title, Rasheed will get much of the credit from some posters.
