-- Sign David Lee to a long-term deal. $50m/5 years.

-- Package LaMarcus Aldridge for a top-tier PG in the mold of a Devin Harris/Deron Williams/ect.

I really hate the idea of packaging LaMarcus but if we can land a Deron Williams (caliber) from a cash strapped team, or a team on the verge of rebuilding, we have to pounce on that opportunity. We all know how hard it is trying to obtain a good/great PG. We haven't had one since - Rod Strickland and Terry Porter?

David Lee is a stud. Flat out. He averaged a double/double before the SSOL offense. He's too good not to start. That is why It makes absolutely no sense to bring him on board with LaMarcus already here. So, if we can solve our PG problem using LaMarcus and signing David Lee, that's a perfect storm.

Harris is not on the same level as the top PG's IMO.. he is a stud no doubt, but not LaMarcus Stud worthy.

Re: Would you support this move?

Head says yes, but heart says no.

I don't like the idea of trading Lamarcus, but any chain of events that would net us a serious upgrade in one spot without seriously downgrading another would have to be considered. I think my biggest problem with this would be that I perceive Lee's scoring as being primarily "garbage points" (offensive rebounds, loose balls, etc.), which is how I see Oden for the next couple years as well. Aldridge, however, has offensive game which justifies plays being run for him. In my mind, our PF/C combo should have one of each. Absent major improvement in Oden's offensive game, I think I'd have to stick with LMA over Lee.

Re: Would you support this move?

IF we could get a Devin Harris/Deron Williams after signing Lee, I would support trading LA.

It would hurt, but it would make the team better and that's all that matters to me.

IMO Aldridge's perimeter game compliments Oden PERFECT.. I like Lee but his game will not compliment Oden.

With the matchup problems he causes.. yes. on both ends of the floor and for multiple positions, I have seen 1-5 postions. Harris causes a matchup problem for one position, MAYBE two.

    Deron, yes. Harris, no.

Those two are on different levels.

Agree on that one about levels. Williams is in that upper tier above Harris.

I'd do that, though I'd rather sign Millsap than Lee. But even if Lee were the one signed, I'd do it.

And I'd deal Aldridge, in that scenario, for any of Chris Paul/Deron Williams/Rajon Rondo/Devin Harris. Paul is obvious, but adding Rondo to the mix.

Harris is not better than Aldridge by any means.

Re: Would you support this move?

The question to me is not just who's better (although I think that Harris is better right now than LA), but which is better:

    PG: Harris
    SG: Roy
    SF: Batum
    PF: Lee
    C: Odom

    or

    PG: Andre Miller
    SG: Roy
    SF: Batum
    PF: Aldridge
    C: Odom

I think the former lineup is, both in the near term and long term.

Re: Would you support this move?

Ed pulled a Mike Rice. I don't think Mike will ever be able to separate Oden and Odom.

In my orig. post I would consider Devin Harris a last option of the top-tiers using LaMarcus.

If we called New Orleans, who's organization is a sinking ship; operating in the red, will be in another city within 5 years, and offered LaMarcus Aldridge/Rudy Fernandez/Jerryd bayless/1st round picks, I think we'd have at least a shot.

Same goes for Utah. Their finances are unstable with their owner dying, and of course the economic climate has a lot to do with their money trouble.

With Boozer staying put, they could lose Milsap to another team willing to offer him $9m-10m/per. When Okur/Boozer's contracts end this team will be in full rebuild. With the packaged mentioned above, we'd at least have a shot at Deron.

Has to be a typo. He must have meant Oden.

Re: Would you support this move?

...but Oden does NOT HAVE a game!

Perhaps in two to three years he will.

Only offense is a two-handed jam - when he gets the ball. His defense isn't much better = FOUL.

Not an Oden hater! But he should be brought off the bench for 1/2 of the games. Start him when the opposing team has a nobody at the post - let him work on his moves and gain confidence. Then, in two years, we might have our stud.

Drain his confidence by starting against Yao, Shaq, etc. and he's gonna crawl into a huge hole and never come out of it.

Point is - you don't worry (today) who compliments Oden. Instead, we build the balance of a team that Oden can one day compliment.
