I absolutely would go that route, but only if I had seen if New Jersey would go for it. Once I had a verbal agreement I would do both in the same day to make sure it went according to plan. Once Millsap signed I would instantly pull the trigger on LMA for Harris. I would even throw in Blake and Outlaw to sweeten the deal and salary match maybe ask for a back up PF or SF in return or future picks from NJ.
I have to disagree with this on two counts one, Millsap routinely ate Aldridge for breakfast forcing us to switch Oden/Przy onto Millsap and LMA on Okur. I also think Millsap is a potential All-star forward (like LMA). Harris is already an All-Star and a massive, MASSIVE upgrade over Blake. Millsap might be a small drop off from LMA but not as much as you are saying. Also a rotation of Millsap, Oden, and Przybilla is pretty dang strong you can go twin towers part of the time. Finally, if we are to win a ring it is almost an article of faith that Oden must become dominant. Oden getting more touches deep in the paint is to me >>>>> LMA uncontested 20 footer. Millsap can be a garbage man cleaning up misses from Oden on the weakside and also Harris, Roy and Batum from range or at the cup. Either way we OWN the glass with Oden and Millsap. I think for our team it might even be an upgrade over Oden/LMA when all is said and done.
The extensions don't kick in until July 1st 2010 meaning with my plan you get Battier, Kurt Thomas and Sessions while still retaining the 8 million in Capspace through draft day 2010 for lopsided trade possibilities at both the Trade Deadline and draft day.
