In case you are one of the ignorant ones, or someone who just didn't know.

Brian Wheeler had lap band surgery last year and has lost SIXTY pounds.

He has a goal of getting that number up to MINUS ONE HUNDRED by the time the regular season starts.

Sacking up and getting a surgery like that to take control over an addiction and your life takes courage.

God bless you and WAY TO GO WHEELS!

This link has a video of Wheels on the page talking about the surgery and the after effects.

I'm very proud of Wheels. He does a great job and I want him to be around for multiple decades into the future.

No, we had the negative thread.

I would like to see this be a postive discussion.

I know I make fun of lots of people, but Brian has EARNED some respect.

What Wheels has done here is actually a major accomplishment. Its no joking matter. It is a very hard thing to conquer an addiction. Obviously Brian has tried dieting before and failed, and decided to make a life change. He chose to confront his issues head on. Food addictions are challenging in a different way because unlike drinking, drugs, alcohol, behaviors......you cannot go without because you need to eat in order to survive.

It does take courage to acknowledge and face ones addictions. Brian isn't over this yet, but he took a real big step in getting the surgery, and sticking to the program for a whole year.

Anyone who has struggled to take off 20 or so lbs has to give Wheels a thumbs up. The surgery is not enough; he has to change a lifetime of habits and a mindset that makes food both consolation and celebration.

I noticed he's lost some weight. I read once that the lap band surgery has a fairly high failure rate (as far as surgeries go), so it takes guts to try it.

Good for Brian. We want him around for a long time, so I hope he continues to do well.
