Source: News Herald This makes sense for the Pistons to clear up the log jam in the back court. However this creates a logjam at the forward position with Prince, Villanueva, & Boozer. Unless Dumars has another deal lined up to ship out Tayshaun for an upgrade at center or if the Pistons are planning to play with a small lineup with Boozer at center. The overhaul continues.
^ cant detroit just start stuckey, gordon, tayshaun, Boozer, C? and villanueva off the bench? (kinda like a lamar odom act) i think this will do good for both teams...
yeah but who would be their center... i think they should try to trade both rip and tayshaun for a nice set of bigs or a good center that can play defense... ala not carlos boozer...the offense will already be there with stucky gordon villanueva... but if they moved the combination of rip and tayshaun to someone like toronto for bosh and someone like anthony parker that would be sweet... then have the lineup be stucky gordon villanueva jmax and bosh.
How interested is Utah in this though? They've got Ronnie Brewer at their starting SG right now, and he's got a good amount of potential and is a lot younger than Rip. It would be a solid trade for the Pistons. They clear up their logjam at the 2, but create another one at the forward spot. They could play small though and use Villanueva at the center, he is 6'10". However, that would still leave them with a relatively thin lineup, and I can't imagine they would be overly effective on the glass. If they do this move, I think they'd have a move lined up to move Prince as well.
I don't see why Utah would do this. They could probably get a lot more in return for Boozer. Richard Hamilton isn't worth that much IMO around the league.
They would do this so they don't have to worry about bringing back Boozer after this year and would likely give Millsap a big ol' extension in the process. And quite frankly, Rip is going to be worth more than Boozer at this point. Boozer is coming off an ineffective year and one where he missed a huge chunk of games due to injury. Rip is still an effective scorer in the league who's work ethic is second only to Kobe Bryant. He's also a solid defensive player and a very good playmaker.
If I were detroit and made this move, I would play Boozer at C out of necessity. Prince, Villanueva, & Boozer isn't a bad frontcourt at all.
i kind of agree here, but they would become weak at the post with the lack of size and defense. if detroit wants to contend in the east, they are going up against guys like KG, dwight, sheed, shaq, all big guys who can score alot down low, detroit will go nowhere fast with that lineup, they need a big defender otherwise those other teams are gonna eat em alive on the block.
They certainly can use a true C, but think about where this team started before the FA signings. Dumars does this deal and they have to play Boozer at C, then Dumars is a genius.
cant imagine theyd be overly effective on the glass?? boozer is a 20/10 guy and villanuevas per 36 minute averages are like 19 pts and 9 boards..... they could both potentially be 20 10 players for the pistons the problem is there is ZERO defense there..
