What the crap? So if we would have kept Miles and he wouldnt play 10 games.. we could have gotten some more cap space? http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_a...ts_receive_disabled_player_exception_for_yao/
"...and their request was granted." Who is to say Portland didn't try to go this route and was rebuffed by the league? We already know for a fact that Stern didn't allow the Blazers to pick up Miles after he was waived by Memphis and no other team wanted him.
I'm amazed at how quickly they were able to get the exception. A lot of teams seem to get denied, or have to kind of hassle for it. Hsa he even had the surgery yet? And they already get the exception?
I would think that Miles' multiple MF surgeries could be just as serious as Yao.. I dont see why they would get it and we wouldnt. But you could be right. But I understand the blocking us picking him back up.. that was a reach.
Here is Yahoo!'s take. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...3Kq8vLYF?slug=ap-yaoinjured&prov=ap&type=lgns I have never heard of this. How can a player be on their roster and have it not count against the cap. Did Portland get scammed with the Miles/Rafe contracts? Can we do this with Martell?
The Disabled Player exception does not remove the player's salary from the books like the medical retirement does. The Blazers could have, presumably sought a Disabled Player exception, but it would have had to have been used by now and certainly would not have done us any good this summer. Ed O.
I think the Blazers got a Disabled Player Exception for Oden or Zach -- can't remember which -- maybe both.
