What happened to Batum? Surely you didn't send him with Przybilla for Battier? Even in hypothetical world, I'd be outraged at that trade you executed.
Well I'll say it . . . I don't get it and I don't like it. Milsap is a PF. I don't want to see Aldridge play anything else besides PF (he is going to be an all star PF). Milsap will need minutes and Nate will play with lineups to get Milsap more time. We are already doing it with Roy and Rudy . . . do we want the best and second best players on the bench backing up Roy and Aldridge? I think the Blazers are trying to force someone's hand.
How is this a buyers market? Everyone is hoping it is but A.) There's really not that many players out there in general and B.) People like Bargs are getting 5 yr/50 mil, Hedo gets 50+ mil... Ben Gordon 55 mil, CV gets like 40? mil... It's not a buyers market.
Well you would hope. This only would address a secondary weakness on the team in my opinion. Portland would definitly be a top rebounding team in the league then though, which should in itself, win a lot of games for you.
OUCH, Millsap might comand this type of money! If varejao gets 50 mil, why couldn't Millsap? http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/60438/20090708/varejao_and_cavs_agree_on_6_year_$50m_contract/
Because the only team with Millsap's bird rights aren't willing to spend that much. That leaves Portland and OKC with enough capspace to sign him.
Before people poo-poo the notion of using LMA at center, stop and think. Last season, when LMA played center that meant Outlaw was at PF. Reread that last sentence slowly. That tandem was good for scoring, but was sub-par for defense and rebounding. LMA+Outlaw...didn't work. LMA+PM....much better balanced and can work!
He gave KP the green light to spend right? I don't mind It's Nuts that Chicago signed Chandler to a long term deal as their future 5 then traded him for expiring contracts the next summer when they realized they overpaid. This would be a similar principle in a deal for Deng. Maybe that trade would have to be tweaked but the premise seems very plausible with Chicago's thrifty owners, a severely overpaid player who has performance and injury concerns, plus on the other side the richest owner in the NBA.
For the season, that was true. IIRC, if you separate out the games Oden was hurt, there were a number where we got killed on the boards. That was the one area where Oden's contribution was undeniable. Given past history, I would hate to see the team rely on Oden and Joel being healthy for 82 games.
As I go back to the article and look at the wording in the headline (which I know by now that Quick does not write ) I am stuck on the word "preparing". It seems like since the offer has yet to be made, it is more of a shot across the bow of the Jazz. I am starting to think that this is more of a threat to move along a potential three way deal with the Jazz/Bulls/Blazers. I guess we will know very soon.
Re: remove You could start LA and Milsap together...however, he'd be a GREAT trading piece in exchange for a SF. Fat chance that Utah will let him go, but if that were to occur, we could swing him for a player like Gerald Wallace.
