Can we still cut Travis Outlaw? Cut him, so that we could offer Millsap 11 mil instead of 7.7. He'd either work out great for us like he did in Utah with him and Boozer, or he'd be a terrific trading piece. Much more value than Outlaw.

one of the biggest reasons LMA gave up 22PER at C was that when he played C, Frye or Outlaw played PF. Aldridge was given zero help. With Paul at PF, I think that LMA will be a much better defender at C just knowing that Paul can handle his man and will box out and rebound.

EDIT: jumped ahead to post this then kept reading and found others also posted similar.

No. Cutting a player on contract does not make his salary come off the cap.

Despite that point, we still had problems with Outlaw or Frye played PF. We were the best in the league, but we could be even BETTER. Paul would also provide us with a great inside scoring presence. Signing him would really be a no lose situation, because many teams covet a PF like him.

But Travis and Blake had some sort of team option thingy this year...and we could cut them and free up that space, remember?

The team option was built into their contracts.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that was valid until July 1st, at which point their contracts became guaranteed.

We could have, but we didn't, and I believe the deadline to do so was June 30.

Everyone keeps saying Millsap can't play C, that he is PF only, but I have seen him play C on the jazz last year. That might not be his ideal position being only 6'8", but as we all know, he plays much bigger than he is.

Ok, that's what I was wondering. Too bad we didn't cut Outlaw.

adding to my last post, playing bu C he will be playing against a lot of second team centers who he would destroy. Don't count PM as a PF only.

I already addressed that in another post. Game 1 (44-30 Houston) skewed those stats.

Really? I'm guessing the lower cap will make a lot of teams want to dump contracts.

No, and why cut Outlaw for Paul F**king Millsap, who can't create his own shot and is a one position player on an underachieving Utah team?

If this does happen, we are locked out of free agency for at least 10 days I believe. This would be a great addition if Nate can figure the minutes. Milsap had been the best back up PF in the league the last three years, but showed he is much more than that last season. But he is only 6'7", so I don't think he is a true starter in the league. I don't think the Jazz will match. Nobody wants Boozer. He is injury prone, has a questionable attitude and he is quickly becoming Zach Randolph. This would be a good pick up. Still not enough to compete for the title. We still need a facilitator or a scorer. Our offense was painful to watch at times last year.

    YES YES DELICIOUS!

That would be perfect. I would still try and trade Blake and Outlaw for Hinrich to get a lineup of:

    PG Hinrich/Bayless
    SG Roy/Rudy
    SF Battier/Batum
    PF LMA/Millsap/Cunningham
    C Oden/LMA/Pendergraph

That lineup is both delicious and nutritious. Turns out I'm from the Amazon too and we only eat amazing lineups (this thread needed more surrealism). I think I would absolutlely lose my shit if that was our offseason and I think our window would open next year. Battier + Millsap + Hinrich offseason are you kidding me brilliant!

    Losing Przy for Millsap? Eh.

Losing Przy is not a good thing.
