I do find it interesting that OKC hasn't been involved in any of the FA negotiations/rumors. At least very, very few. I personally haven't read any.

I've thought about this. It's been said that OKC wants to save their money. They're not going to start paying Boozer $13M and likely still not make the playoffs. Chances are Boozer bolts to greener pastures after next season anyway.

I don't think Portland would've made this move if they though OKC would fuck it up.

Re: Millsap offer official now. Sent to Utah.

Pritchard/Penn need to structure this deal like Colangelo did the Hedo/Marion 4-team swap - so that we use all our cap space consumating the trade, and then get our MLE and bi-annual exceptions to use on other players. I'd hate to blow all our cap space on Hinrich and also be with out the exceptions. That would be a let down.

But, with Boozer's large contract involved and the the Blazers being under the cap, we wouldn't require a 4th team (like Memphis in the TOR/DAL/ORL/MEM trade) to make this happen. Utah would basically get a big traded player exception and they could use the money cleared by shipping Boozer to pay Millsap and stay under the luxury tax threshold. Chicago, by shipping out both Hinrich and Thomas would be able to absorb Boozer's salary and also stay under the luxury tax threshold. So, since we are helping out both these teams, we should be able to get more than Hinrich out of the deal. If we can land Hinrich and still have the MLE to use on Brandon Bass, that wouldn't be too bad.

I think you're correct. At least that's how I understand it.

I just have to type this out and look at it.

    Hinrich\Blake\Bayless
    Roy\Rudy
    Batum\Webster
    LMA\Millsap\Pendergraph
    Oden\Joel

Wow, I would say that is a good offseason.

Nope, they can't. This locks them up for the next 7 days.

That's what I think the goal is. Either way we gain a bigger asset than we had before making the offer.

UNLESS the Jazz matches. Which they would the minute they agreed on a trade with the Blazers and a third team!

It would certainly put an end to all this ridiculous negativity being thrown KP's way.

    Assuming that happens, yes.

Memphis blew their cap space in the TOR/DAL/ORL/MEM trade. They used it to facilitate the trade by sending a big TPE to Orlando. They basically used their cap space for cash considerations and a 2nd round draft pick.

I have to say that (assuming that this report is legit, and Millsap has been signed to an offer sheet) the Jazz could just get really pissed and just say they'll bite the luxury tax and hang on. They can keep looking for Boozer trades as the deadline gets closer (as I say, the Suns have a chip they can use in the Ben Wallace contract) or just let him walk at the end of the year. People don't like to be bullied.

It's not about moving Boozer. It's about getting cap-space FOR Boozer, which only Portland and OKC can offer. Moving him for an expiring does no good, it will save them around 3 Million at the most.

Well, in real life you can easily if all parties agree. The question is does the CBA lock the teams and player in. If so, then the agent wants to talk to both teams before actually signing off on it.

Perhaps we can find some middle ground? Haha...

How about, "KP is a solid GM?"

Eh, fuck that. In KP I Trust. :)

Ben Wallace's deal is (I believe) a SUPER-expiring deal, because he might retire, which means it would be off the books. That's why N'Orleans will give the Suns Tyson Chandler for it any time they want.

Once and if Millsap signs it, it's set in stone. End of story.

Not really true. If all parties agree the offer sheet can be rescinded. This would work in our favor, if we wanted to instead start his salary out at a lower amount with 10% increases instead and give Utah something back that we don't want, such as Travis Outlaw, and we'd still have some salary cap space left over.

    Does this make any sense?

"Bullied?" What? We aren't bullying. It's called strategy. Tactics. Competing.
