When I was watching the video's of Bayless over at oregonlive, it looked to me like he had shed some bulk. Am I seeing things? He looked great, hopefully he is trying to improve his quickness.

Haha yes. The one thing Bayless was truly lacking last year was quickness.

I did notice from the video that he seemed to lose a bit of the hitch on his shot.

I didn't say he wasn't quick before. You can always use more quickness in the NBA.

Well you would hope that after 365 days multiplied by a million shots a day and working out in the gym 25 hours a pop you'd see some marginal improvement. :devilwink:

He looks more like a ball player now and not a body builder.

Ah, Bayless. That guy's tenacity...gotta love it. If guys like Sheed, Bonzi, Rider, Kenny Anderson......ahh, fuck....if those guys had even half of the drive and work ethic J-Bay has....they could have been special. Sheed, especially. Hell, a tenth of J-Bay's drive, and Sheed is a Top-25 player, all-time. Too bad he didn't give a shit. He was out for his, and then it was, "Fuck the man."

As far as Jerryd, he looks the same to me, if not possibly even slightly bulkier.

He's a badass. I hope we keep him, because if we let him go I see another Gilbert Arenas type of player emerging. The dude was being considered as the Number 2 pick by Miami...and people thought he wouldn't last past 4. We have a steal. The dude played one year of college and out of position at that. He'll develop into the PG of the future, and along with Batum we have our future starting 5. In the short term (next two years) I wouldn't mind having a good PG to start in front of him, but I'll be fine with him as the primary backup. If we can get Andre Miller for significantly cheaper than Heinrich we have to do it...although I'd be frustrated if we only added Kirk, like many here. We should be able to add him and a backup PF like a Brandon Bass.

I like Jerryd's potential (I really do), but I'm kind of tired of hearing and talking about what he's going to be someday (or might be), I just want to see if he can actually run a team of 2nd round draft picks and make players around him better this next week in Vegas before annointing him to do anything.

He has the physical tools and clearly the right work ethic to succeed. In my mind, the work ethic can overcome a lot of deficiencies in ability. He has both. He'll be good. I'm not saying we keep him at all costs, but I think if we trade him, we might regret it unless we get a real star. Good size for the position...quick enough to guard other PGs...He'll do well opposite Brandon Roy. I think we can all agree.

Yeah, exactly. Most of us love Bayless, but I just want to see it next season. I'm not too worried about Summer League.. the guy has proven he can beat up scrubs with last year's MVP award. He just needs to prove that he can that guy that will be our future next to B-Roy, and be that perfect guard to complement the rest of the team.

And please... make some jumpers Jerryd!

    Haha.

I once saw Jerome Kersey make 12 3's in a row during pregame warmups. Seeing Martell clank and swish is so typical of his NBA career to this point

The problem is that you (and I) are on the message boards too much. Really, you shouldn't get tired of hearing about his potential until the middle of his third year - not after his rookie year.... especially when he wasn't given enough consistent minutes. He'll have that opportunity this year, and I suspect he'll be fine.
