UConn junior Boone to try NBA draft without agentSTORRS, Conn. -- Connecticut junior forward Josh Boone announced Friday that he will submit his name for the NBA draft in June. The 6-foot-10 Boone said he has not hired an agent, giving him the option of changing his mind and returning for his senior season. Boone has averaged nine points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots during his three seasons at UConn. He spent most of that time playing behind current NBA stars Emeka Okafor and Charlie Villanueva. "Over the last three years at Connecticut, I have played with, and against, the highest level of competition in college basketball. I feel now is the time for me to explore the option of testing my basketball skills against the best players in the world," Boone said in a statement. UConn Coach Jim Calhoun said he supports Boone's decision to explore his options. "He has been and will continue to be a member of our basketball family, and we will always be here to help Josh work through this process and arrive at the best decision for everyone involved," Calhoun said in a statement. Two other UConn underclassmen could enter the draft. Sophomore swingman Rudy Gay has been projected as a top-five pick, and junior point guard Marcus Williams is considered one of the top playmakers in the nation. They face an April 29 deadline to declare for the draft. Boone has until June 18 to withdraw from the draft, which will take place on June 28.LINK
I don't think he is ready for the big show. He needs to work on his shot, he airballed two free throws in a row against Washington, and his consistancy, some games he is great, other games he is invisible.

Josh Boone played like <Censored> this year, he's been one of the NCAA's biggest dissapointments. He's definatly going back to school.

That's not the same at all. Charlie V was one of the most talented players in college basketball. The question mark was his drive and determination.
I think he was smart for not hiring an agent so he can go back to school. Which he probably will or at least should.

Boone was never noted as an offensive player like Charlie was. He was known as a shotblocker and athletic big man, and in my eyes, he hasn't really dropped.
