    BRoy doesn't think it's a "non-issue."

I do not think he's AUTOMATICALLY worth the maximum salary, no.

The economy is in shambles, with no recovery guaranteed. The NBA salary cap is nosediving. There's a labor battle brewing in 2011 with the NBAPA.

The Blazers are well within their rights to say to Brandon and his representation, "Understanding the risks of things continuing to go bad or maybe get worse, we believe it's fair for you to share some of that risk with us. Because of that, we are unwilling to give you a maximum salary extension."

Might he walk? Sure. Might he blow out his knee before his rookie scale contract has expired? Yes.

Might the economy continue to go down the crapper and the NBA salary cap continue to shrink and free agency dramatically curtailed under the new CBA to combat high salaries? Absolutely.

Brandon Roy should not assume he deserves what players in happier, healthier, and wealthier times received. And I don't think that Blazers fans should be upset that the Blazers don't want to automatically treat him that way.

If only he played golf with Ron Tonkin, he'd be the perfect GM!

I can just sense that is going to be a very unpopular opinion around here.

How do you know it's a non-issue when all signs have pointed toward this contract extension talks continuing to be dragged out for our franchise player?

I have a weird hunch that Roy's trying to protect Outlaw with his contract extension, and KP is balking on that... I'm going to go put on my tinfoil hat now.

Dicking around Roy and LMA make it that much easier to justify pressuring King County or Multnomah County into kicking in dollars for arena upgrades and/or new arenas.

A lot of things are not making sense at this point. How could the team be bungling this summer so severely? If you want Millsap, offer him a god damned contract. If you want to keep Roy for as long as you can, offer him 5 years and dick him on the money to start the negotiations. It sends an awful message that Hedo F**KING Turkoglu gets a 5-year offer, while Roy is only getting a 4-year offer. It's ridiculous, and no amount of spin can justify it to me.

I haven't read all the posts but here is my opionion. We can offer 10 milllion a year for 5 years to a backup PF even though he is a damn good PF but we can't offer 5 years to either of our top two players. Toronto can give 5 years and 50 million to their guy and IMO he hasn't even done anything in the NBA yet. Roy is a top 10 player in the NBA and maybe even higher and we can't mess with him. It just boggles the mind that we are wasting our chance by offering so much for a backup PF and not even offering as long a contract to out superstar. Roy is a perfect player for the Blazers and this is how we treat him. I know the Blazers are a business but signing Roy to 5 years instead of 4 seems like a no brainer and would be to the benefit of the Blazers.

They just played part of the interview on 95.5, and wow... I'm not exactly more re-assured about this situation after hearing Brandon talk about it.

Prepared to make a statement next week, but frustrated at the situation.

How could anybody be after listening to that? If I'm Roy, I'm insulted at this point that the team feels I am only worth a 4-year contract. The Vulcans have to be behind this, and I want to know why.

I wouldn't blame him for forcing his way out at this point.

    Nice job KP/Vulcans, you idiots.

I'm pretty pissed off again about it that we're pinching pennies with our franchise All-NBA player. And please.. spare me the "be patient", "the team knows what they're doing", "there's nothing to be worried about" talk.. Something just isn't right about this whole thing, and it's gotta be from the higher-ups
