Would you swap Roy for Paul?

I would strongly consider it, but I think it was my original idea.

I love Brandon, but would put CP3 above him. Especially considering Rudy could really step in. It would be a very balanced team.

Brandon is a great player who makes his teammates a little better.

CP3 is a great player who makes his teammates much much better.

Head says hell yes (due to talent, position, and durability issues), heart says no. I suppose if we can't extend Roy then both would say yes.

If Paul and Roy are more or less equals, and I think they are, I'd choose Roy for the additional versatility that his height advantage provides...

I'd think the goal should be trying to get Paul without giving up Roy. Offer them everything but the kitchen sink.

    Paul, Posey, Butler
    for
Rudy, Bayless, Batum, Outlaw, Webster, Blake

At the end of the day, you still have
    1- Paul
    2- Roy, Butler
    3- Posey
    4- LMA
    5- Oden, Pryz

Fill in depth with whomever will take the league minimum a la the Celtics and enjoy the ride.

I don't know if the Hornets are that desperate yet, but they've got to be at least contemplating such a move in the back of their minds.

If possible, I'd also try to take back Stojakovic to sweeten it for New Orleans. They get to dump that terrible contract. Even then, though, I imagine New Orleans wouldn't consider it too seriously. But it would be amazing if Portland could pull off a deal like that.

I tried that, and I couldn't figure out how to take that much cash back without adding in another expensive player going back. I guess in the grand scheme of things Prz going back to the Hornets would be better for them than paying Peja, so perhaps that'd work. Still, I obviously agree; I don't think they'll consider trading Paul until they don't have a choice. Unfortunately for them, I figure that day is coming sooner or later.

I would do it, and it's not because Roy isn't awesome... he is.

    Chris Paul is just awesomer.

Man I wish a deal like you put down would work for the Hornets.

The Blazers would be kinda good.

New Orleans would LOL at that offer, and say, "You want Chris Paul for Rudy Fernandez and assorted junk?"

If the Blazers were serious about getting Paul without giving up Roy, they'd have to include both Aldridge and Oden in the trade at a minimum. Probably Rudy too.

and Bayless & Rudy + CPaul seems >>> then Roy + those same two chemistry/fit wise. I'm not complaining about what Portland has, but there is almost always some some bright green grass to admire beyond the fence
