That is my worry. Odom will be back. There is no market for him. I'm just worried he'll be a sore loser.
we shouldn't sign him yet, let him see that the best team he can go to now is Memphis, we should stand pat for a bit longer
But him pretty much stating to the NBA that he only wants to be a Laker is what makes the Laker's offer so low compared to what Odom wants.
Many people are saying that he might be in a S&T, but I just don't like the idea. The only one liked was Brian's suggestion with Miami, but that ain't happening cause of Beasley, and aside from that trade, we won't be able to get fair value in exchange for Odom. And by fair value I mean a good backup PF and an improvement in PG.
Kirk would be awesome as a PG. Can you imagine our starter's D with Kobe, Artest, Kirk and 2 7-footers?? Awesome!! The PF's are my concern though, I like Tyrus cause he is so fucking athletic, but in terms of skill, I'm not too sure... I just get annoyed seeing Joakim's face. lol So basically, I'm very high on the PG upgrade, not too sure about the PF replacement though. Would the salaries match? What do you think?
Salaries are close. We could throw in Farmar, or Yue to get it done. I'd probably do it. Tyrus is serviceable, and that's all I think we really need at PF. Joakim is serviceable as well. But both are still young and developing talents, which I really like. Kirk would be an awesome addition as well. As you already stated, the defense would be crazy. The backcourt would be Hinrich-Kobe-Ron, probably the best defensive backcourt in the league. Then upfront you have Bynum as the anchor and another 7 footer in Gasol. I'd pull the trigger if the deal was presented, but I don't think the Bulls would be interested, unfortunately. lol
hahaha! Yeah, they're not gonna do that, but still, a man can hope. lol Anyway, I believe all signs point to us signing Odom. I doubt a sign and trade is happening. Mitch isn't a dummy who trades talent for garbage anymore. Caron for Kwame leads to mind, but somehow, without Kwame, we couldn't get Gasol, and without Gasol, no title. So I guess, Mitch really IS a genius!
Charlotte have any decent backups bigs? I'd take Felton and some fillers if they have some decent back up bigs.
haha, yeah, I know, but he's the only PF I know in Charlotte. But they ain't trading for Odom. They already got Diaw. Any other team that could possibly S&T for Odom and in return, improve our PG and give us a serviceable enough PF?
Sounds kind of tough, I don't think people want to overpay for Lamar or help us out. There are only so many teams that could use him at that price anyway.
Yes I hate that Kobe talked about taking a paycut to pay for others and then signing a normal deal. Maybe Lakers even didn't try to talk Kobe into that, being too scared or something.
I wouldn't mind the Bulls trade mentioned. Tyrus Thomas has loads of potential to be a good player in this league. He had a really good 2nd half of the season last year and had a month where he averaged about 14/10 (February I believe). Throw on top of that that he's a great shot blocker and developing pretty well on offense and he would be a pretty solid player. And I'd love Kirk. He's a good 3 point shooter and a lockdown defender. He'd give us one of the top defensive backcourts in the NBA, if not the best. Plus we'd be able to move Fish to the bench with him coming in. As for Charlotte, the only worthwhile big they have that I want (not named Okafor) is Boris Diaw.
Kwame KO'ed him. lol Say no to Boris. Muhammad Ali!!!
