Reggie Miller leads the Nba with 2,560 career 3-pointers made in regular season gamesRay Allen is second with 1723 career 3-pointersI believe he will unless he exhibits any consistent injury problems. Ray Allen can score over 200 3-pointers a year when fully healthy all year or even most of the games each year. If he follows this pace he will pass Reggie Miller no problem. He is no Barry Bonds. Ray Allen has pure talent and skill to do so even though he is in his 30's... or 30. Not to say Barry Bonds will pass Hank or he has no skill, there is just too much controversy surrounding him. Ray has at least 6 or 7 more years in him. Like i said 200+ per year for 4 years will set reggie back to second place. This record my friend for Ray to take like taking candy from a ringless baby.(I'm not saying he is a whines.) From what i see Ray aint gettin a ring just like reggie so Ray will definetly try to take this from him at all costs. I don't know who can take it from Ray though.Lemme know what ya guys/girls think.
Reggie is about 10 years older then Ray. If Ray played until he was say 37 or 38 then I bet he could do it. He is certainly on pace to do it. So I will say yes.
I simply don't think Ray will play as long as Reggie. Playing for as long as Reggie did is an impressive feat not many have matched. However if Ray did play until he was 40, it could happen, but I doubt it
Ray does not have to play until he is forty to get this. He is 31, Reggie was 40 when he finished his career. And look how close the 2 records are.
Reggie Miller had one 200 make season, Ray has five already. As long as Ray can stay healthy he will be in the league as long as he wants. Let's say Allen has 2 more 200 make seasons, that puts him up to 2,100...That's only 400 off from Millers record. That would put Allen at 32 years old...I think he could manage to hit 400 more depending on playing time. I think it will be pretty close.
not to mention he makes OVER 200 3ptrs and he has 237 now in 71 games.. its his career year and he signed a contract already... he is not trying to slack off like other loser contract signer. Usually a players career year is the year their contract ends. Also note... he is on the losing sonics most older players wouldnt have their career best in this situation and at this time.He aint stopping anytime soon
I'm not liking his chances. He is not as good at moving without the ball as Reggie was, so he won't keep hitting three's when he loses his athletic ability. He will decline as he ages.
It will only take him 4 or 5 more seasons to this. I think he will play atleast past 37 bc his game does not rely on sheer athleticism. He should break this. I don't know why people are scepticle on this.
i never said that. He does rely more on his athletic ability to get his shot off tho. When he is not spotting up, he raises above the defender to get his shot off.i think this may alos depend on how well Luke Ridnour develops. If he can grow into that poor man's Nash mold, Ray has a better chance at it.
Isn't Ray almost 1000 three pointers away from Reggie? I don't know about you guys, but that's a pretty lofty milestone to catch up to
Sure 800 sounds like a lot but Ray Allen is only 30 years old and has put up FIVE 200 make seasons to Reggies ONE....If Ray can have 2 more 200 make seasons he has a nice chance at it.
If Ray gets the three point record, I wonder how much It'll hurt Reggie Millers rep.I know it won't be too big a deal, but shooting threes was Reggie's only skill, it's what made him great. If Allen passes him, how good will Reggie look anymore?
I think Ray Allen has a shot, but I think of him as a more all-around offensive player than Reggie. Someone who is more willing to go to the basket and create off the dribble as opposed to running off screens for shooting situations..It really depends on if Ray can stay healthy and how long he decides to play.

bye reggie. he'll just be an indiana idol after he gets passed. whoever said ray is past his prime.... lol thats all I have to say

I look for ray to get this record. something that will help him a lot will be the developement of wilcox, petro, and swift. if one of them can turn into the type that demands a double occasionally, ray will get cleaner looks. reggie made a ton of threes in the post season too. if ray could get into the playoffs and have those extra games like reggie did, ray would erase that record quickly.
NOBODY can say Ray Allen has a declining game because of age (I'm not a fan of him, either), because Allen Iverson is averaging 30 PPG and something like 8 APG, and he's 32! Besides that, his game relies on speed, which is usually the game-killer in later years.
