Orlando having a pretty good offseason despite losing Hedo. Their frontcourt is a lot more respectable now with Dwight/Bass/Gortat/Anderson even if some of them are overpaid. They're deeper than last year and more of a traditional team. Wonder how it will translate and if it was in response to the Cavs getting bulkier with Shaq and knowing the Celts will be a lot tougher on the inside with KG back.
Yeah I think they're having a pretty solid off-season as well. Does Nelson's injury concern you though? Sometimes I wonder how he got hurt that long on what seemed like a routine play. JJ is his backup I suppose, I'd try to get some more depth there actually, for insurance. Jameer's a great player of course. Will Pietrus get more playing time now? They don't exactly have a full-time power forward so I think Lewis/Bass will share responsibilities there. Then that would mean Pietrus would be needed a bit more at the 3.
Unexpected, but not necessarily a bad move. Having Gortat, Anderson, Bass, and Lewis gives the team amazing lineup flexibility. I wouldnt be suprised if they even go "big" for a few minutes a game and put Howard, Gortat, and Lewis on the floor at the same time. At a minimum, they are a matchup nightmare still, even with Turk off to Toronto....They clearly have identified a window of oppurtunity to win a title and they are going for it full bore. If it works, then they get a ring and its worth it, if it backfires, it may hamstring Howard for years to come.
I get the feeling that SVG is gonna fall in love with Ryan Anderson (he always gets a boner when he can have his 1-4 be good 3 pt shooters) and Gortat or Bass will rot on the bench.
not sure how that much money for 3 points and 2 rebounds can be considered a good thing.....yet another HUGELY over paid center. I guarantee the magic will regret this signing before the 2009 season is done
Not sure why they did this. He's pretty unnecessary and they're overpaying a guy who's only going to get what, 20 minutes per max? Pretty dumb move on their part.
I wonder if Houston is still interested in him? Maybe Orlando can force Dallas & Houston into a bidding war for Gortat.
