    Yeah, either 3 years @ $9 mill or 4 years @ $8 - $8.5 mill.

4 years it is, I don't really care about that length. Player option if he's desperate to try out free agency next season.

I don't like long term contracts. Especially with proven inconsistent players.

lol that miami offer is hilarious... its very similar to the ariza deal... why would you settle for less but guaranteed more years? when you can take an above average short term contract and play your heart out that final year? LOL

Not liking such a long term deal, but if that's what it takes to get him, I guess I'd go for it if it were up to me.

Thing is though, Odom is already dreadfully inconsistent, as he gets older, I have no idea what he will become. Maybe he becomes even more inconsistent?

Years or money, can't have both, that's why you negotiate.

If the years is really that big of deal, just offer him a MLE like deal for 5 years, like we did with Ron. He got payed around 11 million this year, MLE level deal means 5.5 million next season. Are the years such a big issue that he'd want to basically cut his salary in half next year? Or if he wants, he can get 9 million next year, for the next 3 years. It's up to him, but this is the best offer he can get.

I'm surprised the Lakers offered more money. Jerry Buss has come halfway and has sent a message to Odom he wants him back. I'm not sure how patient Buss is going to be if Odom rejects this offer. The Lakers have done so much for him the past 5 seasons and the city of LA has supported him despite being a buffoon more often than not. I'd let Odom be some other teams cap problem at this point if he's not willing to step up and sign.

Lol yeah, I'd give him 7 million for five years if he keeps complaining about his contract situation. Best deal out there, less trouble for us.

I like that Jerry isn't afraid to spend. Shows that he's willing to do anything to keep a championship team together. But there is a difference between spending to win, and spending like a fool. Gotta have limits somewhere, and I'm glad Jerry is being responsible about this.

I think everyone knows he'll come back.

Emplay is behind us on this. He is so slow.

Eric learned a lesson of trying to break headline news when he reported the Lakers had acquired Carlos Boozer.
