Just looking for a new beer to drink. I used to drink Stella Artois and Peroni a lot, but they have become too light for me. I really have been liking Sling Shot lately.

Anything by Ninkasi Brewery in Eugene, especially their Double Believer Red. You have to like hoppy beers though. The Abyss by Deschutes is about as good of a Stout as you will find.

I agree with ppilot, Ninkasi makes some great beer.

If I had to choose one, it would be McMennamins Hammerhead. But others I like are Rogue Dead Guy, Full Sail Amber, Bridgeport IPA, Cascade Lakes Rooster Tail Ale, Bridgeport Ebenezer Ale, etc etc etc. Actually, there arent many NW micro brews that I dont like.

When camping, I enjoy some good ol PBR!

You going to the international Beerfest this weekend? I enjoy it a lot more than the zoo that has become the Portland Beerfest.

    I'll probably go on Saturday.

Portland Beerfest has become a zoo. I try to go early on Friday to avoid the long lines.

Damn, that's a tough question. That's like asking me my favorite pizza. So, my first answer is "yes". However, if I had to choose by type. here goes:

    Pilsner: Pilsner Urquell
    German-style lager: Spaten
    Belgian-style ale: Duvel Trippel
    IPA: Bridgeport
    Porter: Black Butte
Stout: Guiness (better at St. James Gate)
Imperial Stout: Goose Island Bourbon County
Brown Ale: Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale

There are many others I love, but that's just off the top of my head.

^^Not familiar with many of those, but I'm not a huge beer fan. Is Mirror Pond better than Ram Porter? Sam Smith's better than Newcastle?

If I had the choice, I would only drink Stella Artois or Bulmers/Magners.

Mirror Pond is Deschutes' Pale Ale. Black Butte is their porter. I rectified that mistake above. And I think BB is much better than Ram. As for the difference between SSNB and Newcastle, they're very close.

There is this one beer at Rheinlanders... I cannot remember what it is called. I think Hefewiez (no not hefewiezen) and it is SO freaking good. It tastes like banana necco candy.

    I really love IPA's.

Stone Brewing IPA is very tasty... so is Lagunitus. Boulder Brewing makes Hazed and Infused which was amazing in some batches at Old Chicago... then they changed the recipe or something because other times it wasn't nearly as good. Boulder also makes Mojo which I like too.

The had a beer at the McMenemin's Road House mini beer fest last weekend that was like a Porter-IPA... it was a dark IPA with the hoppy goodness... never had anything else like that but it was good.

For Christmas beers I like Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale... though from year to year different batches of the others can be tasty too. Oh heck all the Christmas beers make you happy.

Oregon is a great place for beer. I was in the military traveling around when McMenemin's sprung up. Prior to that we were sorely missing something... and it seemed those types of establishments really took off here first. Now... will not say McMenemin's are all that... but they opened the door for many other places that are. In fact... this thread has convinced me to take the family to the Roadhouse again tonight. =)

BTW... the brewers dinner before the Oregon brewfest used to be good... but then one year it kind of sucked and I didn't go again. It used to be an annual trek to the brewfest for me and my friends from wherever they are... but now we've all drifted in other directions.

Some excellent selections. Pilsner Urquel is infinitely better if you happen to buy it in the Czech Republic (turns out they make great beer not just churn out porn stars). I actually love their Budvar as well they have a "strong" one that is something crazy like 12% or whatever the max is for beer before it's a barley wine.

There's also a beer I like that reminds me of the PG I want us to go after:
