Jennings is looking great in Summer League (pause to allow chorus of boring "Qyntel Woods looked great in Summer League" comments to subside) and I wonder if that makes the Bucks less likely to invest long term in a young PG like Sessions, who has a similar skillset. Now, they probably don't want to hand the keys to the franchise to Jennings, but then again, they do still have whatsisname from Oregon State was it (kidding!)?

I'm not sure if this makes a sign-and-trade likely or just that they would let him walk to stay safely under the cap.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I'd love to make a play for Sessions, using Blake (so that they don't have to hand the keys over to Jennings right away) and a more desireable player. Perhaps Rudy. And take back Redd. They get to dump a big contract, add a cheap, young, reasonably good talent and get a steady veteran point guard til Jennings is ready.

Boy, Jennings is FUN to watch. With Jennings, and Alexander and Amir Johnson, the Bucks and Exciting actually belong in the same sentence. Jennings is Rajon Rondo II.

    PLUS he's regrowing the Gumby!

We wouldn't have to give up Rudy and we shouldn't take back Redd. Ugh.

Are they shopping Redd? I hear his name come up alot. I would definitely go Blake, Rudy, Outlaw for Sessions. I would then try to sign Lee again and trade Przybilla for Battier. If we trade for Battier then he can play back up SG as well. That way Roy or Battier is on the floor at all times.

The problem with all of this is the money being tied up with Millsap. I'm almost hoping utah matches on the off chance we go for Sessions.

Does anyone know when the last day to make an offer to an RFA is?

Enough with the giving up Rudy! You're overvaluing Sessions! He's a good young player, but he's on the Bucks, who just let a good young player go for NOTHING. Now, we assumed it was so they could retain Sessions, but that only if they can stay below tax territory. They would almost certainly give Redd away for nothing - he's way overpaid and he doesn't make their team better. No to Redd!

I don't know. Sessions put up some amazing numbers in Milwaukee. I'd be willing to give up Rudy, and possibly toss Batum into the deal as well. Plus, he's a pure point guard, and would elevate our team into championship contender status.

If you paid your $15 you can re-watch the Bucks-Bulls game (once it's finished) and hear the Bucks GM being interviewed just before half-time (i.e., now). I heard the beginning of when they asked him about Sessions, and he sounded very lukewarm and noncommittal.

You are way overrating Sessions. His a good young PG. He wouldn't put us in championship contender status not even close. I wouldn't mind signing/trading for Sessions but some people way overrate him on this forum. He can't shoot and only had those 2-3 big games. He has also had many bad or average games. I wouldn't trade Rudy for him. If we are trading Rudy I would rather package something with Rudy and try and trade for Harris or even Conley way before Sessions.

I would offer Bayless for EITHER Jennings or Sessions. And not think twice.

I'd offer Bayless for Sessions. But I'd rather deal Rudy.

Ya know why? Because Rudy can't play point guard long-term while Bayless can. After all, Bayless has been a point guard his whole basketball career, dating back to high school.

Plus, I think Bayless is just the better talent. But that remains to be seen.

We shall agree to disagree. But perhaps we can agree on this:
    Code:
List of PG talents Who's better
    Penetrating Bayless
    Shooting 3s Rudy
Guarding PGs Bayless (but it's close)
    Passing Rudy
    Basketball IQ Rudy

    How about this?

    Code:
List of PG talents Who's better
    Penetrating Bayless
    Shooting 3s Rudy
    Guarding PGs Bayless
    Passing Rudy
    Basketball IQ Unknown
    Ball-Handling Bayless

Ball-handling isn't the same as penetration. Bringing the ball up the court against defensive pressure or handling the ball on the wing against defensive pressure are both important for a point guard and Rudy's handle is weak.

As for basketball IQ, if you question my putting that as "unknown," Rudy is clearly more experienced and thus currently the superior decision-maker, but it's quite unknown who actually has more basketball intelligence. Bayless is 20 and hasn't yet had a real opportunity to show his ability to think on the court.

Planning your team's future based on how a player performs in summer league is suicide.

And who's doing that? If you mean I'm suggesting that the Bucks do that - I'm not. All I'm saying is that it's becoming obvious to me that Jennings is a great talent. That doesn't mean that the Bucks didn't already know that. (Perhaps my title of "Jennings making Sessions expendable" might lead to that interpretation...)

But all right - the Bucks can play it safe, re-sign Sessions, and send Jennings our way. With Sessions they'd be set at PG, but they could use a young SG like Bayless (or maybe Rudy, but I'd rather not).
