IMO, he can charge all he wants in SEATTLE, barren land of no basketball. He belongs to PDX now.

Good thing I got my Roy autograph before he even played a game for the Blazers.

Everyone might want to think about the fact that most celebrities, whether they're athletes, movie stars, musicians, etc, can be real douche bags.

    A) They get approached by people all the time.

    B) Just because they're famous doesn't mean they don't have bad days or treat people badly from time to time.

    C) I used to be a huge fan of Reggie Miller until I met him and he was a jerk.... just saying.

Also, nobody knows what happens to the money. For all we know, it could go to a charity organization.

Someone should do their research...I bet most of the money goes to the shop or to a charity...

    No.

The column cited by Dwight Jaynes (which I linked to, above) had the cost at $49 per, not $40 (as the 2007 article you linked to does), and the article from 2007 also is for the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame, which did not take place in Mill Creek, WA (which is where the new column claims it occurred).

I didn't say "regurgitating" in the sense that it was the same article. I meant the story expressed the same sentiments and was from the same author.

What parent would give their kid $49 to get an autograph that they could get for free?

Were people forced to go get the autographs?

On a side note, I can see the Vulcans are using Dwight Jaynes as a conduit to smear Roy's reputation. Crafty move, but appearances by pro athletes in such a manner are the norm.

Be proud, Dwight. I hope you're getting a nice bit of cash from the Vulcans in order to create even more resentment/uncertainty over the Roy situation.

I'm just geeky enough to have paid for autographs in situations like this. The promoter (often a baseball card shop or maybe a show) contracts with the athlete to sign x number of autographs and make an appearance for one or two hours. Personally, I like 'em because the athlete usually will take a little more time in these deals and will sign the autograph to you personally. Yogi Berra is the only prick to have ignored the friendly request. One of these deals helped me land an 8x10 of Ernie Banks made out to me and signed with a "let's play two". It also helps keep older wanks like me from fighting with kids (who should have priority) for free ones at the Garden.

It's not like Roy only signs for money -- and some athletes (usually retired) will ONLY sign for money. This thread is making a mountain out of a molehill.

I don't get it. Charging 49 and not 50 makes you stupid? In caps?
