Re: Lakers had made new offer of 36/4, 30/3 to LO.

Time for Drew to step up and stay healthy. If Odom does leave, this could be a blessing in disguise for Drew.

    Bucher Update

    -Lamar to Miami likely

-Lamar still holding out hope the Lakers will put their contract offers back up on the table

-No indications the Lakers will start negotiations again.

    Re: Bucher Update

According to Bucher we've already cut him off?

My guess is, he takes an offer from Miami, brings it back to LA, and sees if we'll give him a better deal.

    If not, we move on.

    Re: Bucher Update

Yeah, Bucher was on ESPNEWS and said that Odom is holding out hope LA starts their talks again, but there is no indication the Lakers will re-start negotiations with him. Bucher made it sound like we've already moved on.

So do we believe Bucher this time or no?

    Re: Bucher Update

Well all indications seem to be Bucher has been on the money with this. He said that the Heat are actively pursuing him, they are. He said the Lakers have pulled the offers off, they did. He said they haven't started up talks again, and so far it looks like they haven't.

    Bucher might actually be right.

He has cred because he said Miami is courting LO? Everyone knew that.

Don't know what to think, but we should at least match Miami or that would be stupid.

    Re: Bucher Update

So far on the Odom situation, Bucher has been pretty money. He said we didn't offer a 4th year, and reports have came out that, that might be true. I actually believe Bucher here. Despite how badly he fucked up the Kobe thing, he still works for the biggest (biased, too) sports media market in the world and he is still one of their top dogs. That has to have some credibility.

What I am surprised by is Wojnaroswki being quiet about these.

    Re: Bucher Update

He also fucked up even worse imo about Artest.

We could have offered 4/36 then just taken it off the table. Still I don't trust his "gut", I'm not sure 3/27 is even a worse deal. A MLE contract after that and he is set and doesn't have to move.

    Re: Bucher Update

No way in hell the Artest fuck up was worse.

Bucher bet his life that Kobe would be a Chicago Bull. It can't get any worse than that.

    Re: Bucher Update

And I don't find that 3/27 contract that attractive.

I'd much rather take a 5/35 or w/e the offer was. More years, overall more money.

Wherever it ranks, this latest one was pretty awful.

    Re: Bucher Update

Eh, I dunno if it was awful. There was little mention of the Lakers and Artest. Every report had Cleveland courting him hard. They had LeBron wining and dining him, Cavs management with him. There wasn't much breaking news until the last minute about Artest and the Lakers....well except Artest's twitter madness.

    Re: Bucher Update

If we don't offer a MLE that's just moronic.

Bailing on LA is soft stuff though it is not just about the money. There are other ways to make money, if Rasheed can get MLE Lamar can make that cash back. I understand if he is posturing in order to get the best deal possible, but to actually leave would be stupid beyond words. Also I feel this organization could have handled this situation better. Unless you're offering 8 million over 4 or 5 years, 24/3 is a really stupid deal.

To get massively owned like that just minutes before it is announced on your own network shows how lame it was.

    Re: Bucher Update

I'm sure Lamar can get marketing deals in Miami, as well as LA. Miami is a big city, too.

Honestly, if I was Lamar, I'd take the Miami deal. More years, more total money, no tax, plus the chance to make more money because of who I am and where I live.
