Manchetser City Complete Signing Of Emmanuel Adebayor

Manchester City have finally completed the signing of Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor.

The striker has signed a five-year-deal with the club, and becomes their third major attacking signing of the summer.

City boss Mark Hughes has already signed the likes of Roque Santa Cruz and Carlos Tevez, and with Adebayor now on board the total of first team strikers at City of Manchester Stadium goes up to nine.

The transfer of the Togolese forward has been expected for the past week, with personal terms and work permits being the only things to hold up progress of the deal.

Now though the transfer is complete, and Adebayor will begin next season with City, possibly wearing the No. 25 shirt that he wore at Arsenal.

The 25-year-old has progressed immensely in his time with the Gunners, and is still to enter the peak of his career.

The Togolese striker has stated that he is delighted with the move to Eastlands, and was thankful for the warm welcome he received from the fans upon arrival at the club.

Speaking on the club's official website, Adebayor said, "It made me feel really welcome and special and I can’t wait to play for City’s fans and show them what I can do.

"I was born to play football and that is what I want to do. I have come here to make history for this club and those supporters. It what the chairman and the manager told me that they want too and I can’t wait to get started."

Hughes was also pleased with his new signing, believing the striker will add another dimension to an ever improving City side.
"Emmanuel has been one of the top forwards in the Premier League since he arrived from France and we are delighted he has agreed to come and join us," he declared.

"Along with the other signings we have made in the last two windows he will greatly enhance our ability to compete with the top sides.

"His arrival is another clear indication that we are determined to augment the players we have here with the best of international talent.

"He adds vital balance and power to our attack. He has everything a top forward needs. He is versatile, powerful, quick and agile on the ball. I am looking forward to working with him as are the rest of the staff. He will definitely add a new dimension to our play. I have been a great admirer for a long time."
The signing of Adebayor throws the futures of Craig Bellamy, Benjani, Felipe Caicedo and Valeri Bojinov into doubt, with all four unlikely to get a regular starting place at the club, and may find themselves part of the expected clear out at the club.

Adebayor meanwhile, will challenge for a first team spot, and will be hoping to improve on his 46 goals in 104 league appearances for the Gunners.

Its great for Man City though, look at the team they've got now. Best off-season after Real Madrid.

I'm not upset about the transfer or the fee or whatever, just that things didn't work out with him and the Gunners.
