Do you understand that many of us probably believe that "Miller>Blake"? But what we are saying is that there is no reason to do this trade since we can just go out and sign Miller as an FA and keep or trade Blake. In addition, I think many or most here probably feel as I do that Hinrich is a better fit for us than Miller - so again why would we facilitate a Hinrich trade to Philly?
Maybe the S&T is specifically to open up slightly more cap space? Or, with the knowledge that we will play a lot of a 3 guard rotation of Miller, Roy, and Rudy, and the team feels like the right thing to do is move Blake, and sign an older vet to play 3rd string. That Blake would be wasted at 4 million getting 10 minutes a night. Signing Miller to a deal at 6.5 a year, let's say 2 years 13 million still leaves us with a little over 5 million in cap space. Not that we would necessarily use it, but it still gives us that flexibility for an in season trade if we desired, and by using Outlaw's contract witht hat space, woud give us over 8.5 to move. I have been down and up and down on Miller. I do think that he creates a dimension to our offense that is lacking right now. Someone else to attack and get easy baskets for LMA and Oden off of dump offs wouldbe nice to see.
The reason would be to retain cap space. Blake and Outlaw for Miller still allows Portland to have 8 million or so in cap space to sign Lee for example. I'm not saying that is the plan, but it could be. If that is the plan I am not saying Lee is the player either. But Miller and Lee is an upgrade over Blake and Outlaw.
Or if it was just Blake for Miller, and a separate sign and trade of Outlaw for Lee? To ensure NY doesn't match an offer for him, making sure he is ok with backup minutes.
I actually like the idea of a Miller/Blake combo (still prefer Hinrich), nice flexibility depending upon situational needs. Problem with that is Bayless likely gets very little on court time and the key is whether mgmt believes in him and wants to give him that time.
Exactly. I mean God only knows what KP is thinking....literally, but something along those lines makes sense at least
I've never even heard of this blog. Why would they get word of this rumor, while other more credible sources haven't heard anything? Either way, I'll echo the sentiment of Hinrich > Miller. Take out Philly.
Why does Chicago do this? If it is to get Blake, then why not just deal Hinrich to us for Blake\Outlaw? Why do we do this? Lose the guy we really want to get a slight upgrade for a couple seasons until Bayless is ready? That we could get just straight up and not lose Blake? Sounds like this is some BS rumor.
Chicago, I am guessing, would get Willie Green from Philly, so that they have another SG on their roster.
"Apparently, this deal will like get done if like Andre Miller is able to get like more money in some sort of way or something." Jesus Christ. Top notch writing. It MUST be true.
There is zero chance that the Bulls trade Hinrich for Blake. They're in love with the guy. They chose him over Gordon internally. This looks just completely made up.
Forget the 3's! I don't wanna be Orlando 2.0. I truly believe 3 point shooting teams will never win a college or pro championship. If miller can get into the lane its going to make oden look a hell of a lot better PERIOD! Every day I imagine what this beast could do with a real point guard setting him up. But I lack faith in KP finding him one. But I sure hope he does.
I do all my choosing internally. Let's see: "Keep the guy we've got signed to a $10M per deal, despite the fact that he's our second-best PG and always seems to be injured these days, or keep the guy who was just absolutely amazing in the playoffs and is our only reliable scorer? What's that you say? One of them's a free agent, so we can let him go and save money? Easy choice!" They may "love" Hinrich enough to keep him over Steve Blake, but we'll see. Somehow I imagine the market for Kirk Hinrich isn't exactly that great.
I think that this rumor got mixed up.... Miller to CHI Hinrich to POR Blake and ??? to Philly Philly could lose Miller outright for nothing...I read apparently there was a connection b\t Blake and one of thier coaches\mgmt there and there was a rumor that if there was a S&T that Blake and another player (Outlaw?) or considerations could likely be involved...POR obviously has ben linked to Hinrich for awhile and here is the if...IF CHI had interest in Miller as a backup for Rose (or to play alonside him some?) then this deal makes some sense....They don't have the money to give him what he wants $8-9mil...POR does....I guess they could just deal with Philly direct?...but if this rumor has any legs, it seems to be the sort of deal that POR concocted to get a player they coveted (Hinrich) and get CHI a player they have interest in (Miller), since perhaps they don't have much interest in Blake or Outlaw and POR is unwilling to let Bayless go yet....
I don't think the rumor got all that mixed up. For Chicago, it would make no sense to get Miller when they can get Blake cheaper, on an expiring contract. I think a simple 3 way swap, Blake and Willie Green to Chicago, Hinrich to Philly, Miller to Portland works for all 3 parties. Especially if Miller was signed to a 2 year deal, maybe team option for the 3rd. 13-14 million.
