Someone needs a "Fire Paxson" club in their sig. Just reading through the Q/A, it's rather amazing that "we need a point guard" and Hinrich isn't a very good SG. At least he said he'd go over the LT threshold, but made it pretty clear he won't because nobody can possibly put us over the top and all that blather about flexibility. I honestly can't think of any really good trades the team has made other than Salmons+Miller. If trading fine young players for cap space is a good trade, then winning basketball isn't what the team is about. I also continue to notice that nobody in the organization simply says, "whatever it takes to win a championship." Lastly, the "three things a good CEO does" was blatantly missing the primary duty - maximize return to the shareholders.

No, it wasn't a good trade. Buying the pick that turned into Deng was a good move. Drafting Hinrich, Deng, and Gordon were good moves. None of those were trades. Chandler for... who do we have on the roster from that deal? Maybe it would have been ok if we actually kept JR Smith.
Clearly, life is not too short to defend ass-jacks like Reinsdorf who let's the best player of the last 5 years walk and say it's ok b/c we got Pargo. Ass-jacks unite!
Let's count the bullshit. "Ben wasn't going to get a whole lot of playing time." "A healthy Luol will be an All-Star." "Gasol made sense for the Lakers because, what is he, their third best player probably?" Reinsdorf don't know shit about basketball. No wonder he was good with Vinnie and Pink Floyd (and Pax and Gar) and threw out D'Antoni and PJax.
So much BS in this article. IMO, he's just not going to pay the tax since he's philosophically against it and was one of the main parties for it being in the CBA to begin with. I love the concept of "the tax." A self control mechanism for the owners and a way to justify capping spending to the fan base. Hell, noone wants to pay the taxman, I can understand that!!!! Put in this case the "taxman" or at least the people that fought to have the tax added are the same people who pay it! I'm sure he was peeved at Gordon and his agent after last season. As for Uncle Jerry being a prohibitively cheap owner, all I can say is that 7 of the 8 Chicago championships I've enjoyed in the Chicago sports viewing lifetime have been from Uncle Jerry teams and he'll be paying large sums to Brad Miller, Kirk Hinrich and Luol Deng this season. Seems to be that they just choose to pay the wrong people. He pretty much pays up to the tax every year. I don't think our payroll level is much if any of a competitive disadvantage against the other teams. Its just our basketball folks mess up when its time to decide who to pay / acquire. The champion Bulls had 3 all-stars BTW Jerry. Grant and Rodman were all-star caliber players. And the other all-stars were the GOAT and a top 50 of all time player. I really think that Jerry is pretty hands off when it comes to the basketball decisions and only enters the fold when it comes to entering into long term contracts and the like. That being said, I think he takes the advice of his basketball people on these things.
