I saw this in the Bulls forum. There's nothing in the article that suggests that Boozer is in a trade with Miami, just that he would like to go there. The journalist either chose a poor heading, or they conveniently left trade details out of their article.

So the "mutually agreed to a trade" part is bunk?

..."he and the Utah Jazz have ``mutually agreed'' to a trade, and it would be ``a beautiful thing'' if he could wind up reunited with Olympic teammate Dwyane Wade on the Heat."

    Ah gotcha.

Looks like both I and the person who came up with that title misunderstood.

    My bad.

The two parties are Boozer and the Jazz... not the Jazz and another team.

Really, it's just the journalist's fault. Fans in Miami are going to be really pissed off.

Expiring or otherwise, that's a big contract for somebody to take on for one year, and now it's known that Boozer and Utah don't want each other.

I'd love it if Utah can't move Boozer. Any team that gives them value at this point in a trade should be investigated by the NBA (I'm looking at you, Chris Wallace).

Well, in defense of the reporter, if that newspaper works the way that most other newspapers work, an editor or someone else usually decides upon the headline. He or she just writes the article.

Haha, the article's name has changed to "Boozer awaits new NBA home". Whoops.

What are the "tax reasons" he mentions?

No state income taxes. As far as the NBA is concerned, Texas is the only other state like that. Tennesee gets some sort of a break, but I am not sure exactly what it is.

My wife and I bring home an extra $1,000 per month because there is no state income tax in Texas. So imagine how that might benefit an NBA player?

    Yep. Same as Texas.

Another reason why screwing over Roy for dollars is a bad idea, especially since our legislature just passed a bill that will tax a person like Roy at 10% at the state level.

$12 million/per - take $1.2 million right off of the top. You don't do that in Texas or Florida.

    $1000 a month! WOW!

I wish the State of Oregon would give me more of my state income tax back, since I live in Vancouver and work in Oregon.

    Ya, that sucks.

I really thought the sales tax would make up for it, but it's not even close unless you make some absolute huge dollar purchaces. Plus, we can write off our sales tax anyway.
