Steve Nash(notes) has agreed to a two-year extension with the Phoenix Suns, Nash’s agent said Monday.

Nash had one season remaining on his contract that was only partially guaranteed. With the Suns picking up that season, the new deal will be worth a total of $35 million over the next three years. The extension, which allows Phoenix to keep Nash through the 2011-12 season, is expected to be finalized with Suns officials later Monday

    From http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4341269 :

THAT would have given us something to talk about, huh?

I'm not quite sure I know what the Suns are doing... they're getting worse and older every year but they seem to find new ways to spend money as they're doing it.

    That makes no sense.

Portland was trying to convince Phoenix to part with young talent for Nash is what it says. I wonder if it meant

Portland was trying to convince Phoeninx to part with Nash for young players

    or

Phoenix was trying to convince Portland to part with young players for Nash

That's the one that makes sense. I can't imagine the Suns were trying to pawn off Nash AND get him a larger extension from Portland.

As I understand the new agreement, the Suns will provide a walker for him to use.
    Geeze, he's an old man.

Actually, it makes more sense that Portland offered:

    Outlaw+Imaginary Capspace

    And Phoenix balked.

Well, looks like Phoenix knows they'll suck anyway and Nash is their only real draw. If they lost him, they wouldn't sell any tickets.

Seeing how KP works, those young players were probably Pendergraph, Freeland a dn Mills....after the broken foot.

That's not "young players" so it doesn't seem like that's what they were talking about when they were typing up this report.

    Outlaw is fairly young.

    How about:

    Outlaw/Pendergraph/Capspace? ;)

Good grief. Pritchard is striking out everytime you turn around. Maybe he's trying to set the all-time record for rejected trades, free agent reversals, and failed signings.

That Miles letter was brutal to this franchise. Owners don't like to be told what to do.

Also, there has been speculation that KP isn't offering close to fair value because he overvalues our players too much. If we hear in a moth or two that we could have had Nash for Outlaw, Bayless and Blake then Boo on KP.

Exactly. Which leads a smart person to believe that the Blazers weren't seriously pursuing Nash, just continuing to be in the lime-light regarding teams who have money/space to make a move.

Doubt it, looks like he's simply trying to let it be known how far the Blazers are willing to go for the right guy. Unfortunately Portland lacks many incentives other cities do, so its pretty obvious KP is playing to our limited strengths by letting it be known that the Blazers believe nobody is outta our reach and we'll do what it takes to land any free agent. Sure enough that's going to appeal to someone great, and when it does it will truly be the right pick

Sure, that's what he's doing. He didn't really want Turgolu, or Millsap, or Nash. He was just out there making offers right and left and showing the league that Portland is a "player."

    Uh, huh.
