I'm fine with the signings. Low risk, likely low reward. However, you never know with these second rounders, some of them could surprise us.

Out of Pendergraph, Cunningham and Mills, who's more likely to stay long term? My gut feeling says Mills.

    Two different things.

95% of the people didn't like the draft picks because they had never heard of them so they automatically thought they suck. Essentially they were basing their opinion off of nothing.

They ended up being wrong. Who would have thought.

Who are these 95%? I thought you were kidding. I don't recall anyone saying that they wouldn't make the team, let alone 19 of every 20 people.

Further, these are two guys who were in college for four years. They played in major conferences and were on TV pretty regularly. Someone not knowing anything about Claver makes sense, but I don't think that people had "never heard of them" if they followed college basketball at all.

I don't think they were good selections, but it has nothing to do with ignorance.

It has more to do with...opinion? Blair missed some Summer League games. Why?

Presuming you're being serious: NBA ready qualities...

Cunningham's midrange game is absolutely NBA ready. His defense may be NBA ready. At the very least it will be comparable to Outlaw.

Pendergraph provides 6 NBA ready fouls.

What I'm curious about is, why announce now that they'll be signed prior to the season? Did they do anything at spectacular in summer league? (I admit to being down on the picks, so that may color my opinion.) Don't fringe 2nd rounders usually have to earn spots in training camp? The message I'm getting from Pritchard, reading between the lines, is it's a saving face statement to let everyone know they were good picks, after the PR hammering the team has taken this off-season.

Let's wait and see how he gets those shots off against real NBA defenders first... Bayless looked like a capable shooter last summer, too.

I don't remember what his average was, but he made his share of outside shots. The main thing is getting a volume of shots with minimal defensive pressure ... really helps for getting into a groove. When Cunningham gets 2-3 contested shots spread out over an entire game, it might be a tad tougher to knock them down with consistency.

I imagine that he was just answering a question. If he held a press conference to announce that, then that does seem a little odd.

It isn't any surprise that they'd be signed - we have five open roster spots. They'd have to suck not to qualify.

Summer league is not where big men shine... so I think they both did fine. Bayless should get some credit for the team involving lowpost players. I have never seen that happen so much in summer league.

Awesome! I am glad they both made the team. Much better than Ruffin and Randolph IMO.

Forget about his missed games - in the head-to-head game Pendergraph pretty much outplayed Blair - about the same statistical output but a lot more efficient...

Would you take 14 points on 6 field goal attempts or 16 points on 16 FGAs?

Yes, Blair got one extra rebound and 2 more points... but if this games is any indication - he is going to have problems scoring in the NBA - where his big rear-end does not move guys out of the way as effectively as it did in college...

Actually I don't buy that. They might not have thought they were impact players, but comon, everybody on the forum except for a few people was more than aware of the number of roster spots available this year was very high.
