    Re: Affliction: Trilogy (Aug. 1st)

If the trend continues, Barnett's career will be ruined by losing to Emelianenko:

Hunt: 3 straight losses to Overeem, Manhoef, Mousasi
Lindland: beat Fabio Nascimento (who?), then got brutally KO'd by Belfort, should lose to Shields later this summer
Hong: TKO'd by Cro Cop, relegated to freak show fight against Canseco
Sylvia: crushed by Mercer, now essentially worthless
Arlovski: exposed by Rogers, career tailspin

So remember a while back how Dana White he had a monster signing at 185 but was holding out on us to build up some more excitement, is that guy gonna be Vitor Belfort? or did I miss the announcement.

    Re: Affliction: Trilogy (Aug. 1st)

Like most of Dana's big announcement announcements, it fizzled out. He mentioned wanting Belfort but in terms of a "mind blowing signing" it hasn't happened.

Belfort wouldn't even qualify as a "mind blowing" signing nowadays anyway. There is noone out there that would be a big deal other than Fedor.

Rumor floatin around shit dog that Brett Rogers is the likely opponent, not Vitor. I'll look for an article.

Belfort is the back up if Strikeforce doesn't approve of Rogers fighting.

Supposedly Belfort has a verbal agreement to take the fight. I guess it's a waiting game now.

    Re: Affliction: Trilogy (Aug. 1st)

As much as I hate their clothing, I feel bad for Affliction. At first I was skeptical of what they could do but all their cards have been good. More and more I've been wanting Affliction to stay alive and be a thorn in Dana White's side, I am tired of DW thinking he can do and say whatever the fuck he wants.

    Re: Affliction: Trilogy (Aug. 1st)

Fox Fight Game suggested Tito Ortiz as a replacement.

I think that is a great idea. Based off of his fans and his reputation, I think it'd sell more than Fedor/Barnett.

    Re: Affliction: Trilogy (Aug. 1st)

Naturally, calling Tito's bluff (he said he wants to fight Fedor) makes the most sense. He won't do it, of course. Says it's "too short notice". Huge reward, low risk for Tito, IMHO. Nobody is giving him the contract he wants right now. He beats Fedor and suddenly he's a top earner again. He loses and everyone is unsurprised--short notice and all.

    Re: Affliction: Trilogy (Aug. 1st)

Tito is coming off back surgery, and apparently just started training 4 days ago. He said he isn't even close to fighting shape. So I don't blame him for not wanting to take it.

Santiago said he was still training for Belfort. Have they officially announced the fighter, yet?

Oh man. Dana is loving this. I can't wait for his rant. I feel bad for Atencio.

Fedor to the UFC now has the biggest chance it has ever had, IMO.
