Anyone familiar with the city? i'm going to the bay area next month for a weekend (going to some MMA fight there)...will be in SF visting on a Sunday until early afternoon on Monday....

    Looking for:

    1. Good, hip botique hotel to stay at. Preferably young, upscale (yuppie?) scene. Not terribly expensive. I was looking at the Grand hyatt but its $50 just to park overnight?????

    2. Things to do: I've done the whole pier thing, northbeach italy, chinatown, drive around the water/golden gate bridge. etc. Anything else to do?

    3. Is there anything to do on a Sunday night? I heard the strip clubs are good. Last time there, we went out drinking and it was kinda lame, the people were all kind of hipster types and that sucked.

Well, I have a feeling your tastes in Bay Area entertainment would not be the same as mine.

    I like....

    baseball

    organic food

    the San Francisco Symphony

    San Francisco Ballet

    The Castro

    Farmer's Market at Embarcadero Plaza

    San Francisco Mime Troupe

strip clubs I know zero about

But, try www.sfgate.com for some entertainment ideas.

Eh, there's not that much else to do in the city unless you're going to a show/festival. The Metreon still has a nice arcade, IMAX theater and a regular movie theater but they recently took out the Playstation store I think. Strip clubs are ok but often in really sketchy neighborhoods. Giants aren't even in town so you can't hit up AT&T park (even if you're not a fan of the Giants the park has a ton of stuff to do and on weekends lots of fine women).

BTW is the MMA fight the strikeforce event coming up down in San Jose? I've got a job interview today and if I get it I might go to that.

SF is the Armpit of America.

Just behind LA, which is the butthole of America.

That's pretty sick. There's tons of good food in SF, just yelp whatever kind you want- seafood, italian, mexican, etc. Also I just remembered there's the Exploratorium in SF which is a lot of fun but more of a date thing probably than an all-guys adventure (if you've got kids with you they'd love it too I'm sure). Also if you're willing to come out to the suburbs closer to where I live there's some go-kart places, in-door paintball (never been cuz me and my friends have our own spots), I've heard this place called Sky High down in Santa Clara is tons of fun- its a giant in-door facility lined with tons of gigantic trampolines. Haven't been yet but I wanna go. Also if you're hanging around down in San Jose there's Great America in Mountain View if you want some good roller coaster/theme park action. There's always alcatraz too if you're into that, I've actually spent a night there and the tour was kinda cool. Lol you could check out the zoo too, I think they fixed the tiger cage plus I know people who work there who say its safe but I sure as shit aint going over there after the tiger killed a dude. Oakland zoo is newer/better too IMO. If you like weed there's a lot of cool shops near haight to get some paraphernalia.

Don't really know any good club spots as I'm only 19. But, yes, most places are probably over-run by hipsters in SF.

There's always the beach too if you surf. Water is still probably too cold to swim in without a wet suit though. Its been FREEZING here in San Bruno this week, like in the 50s so if it doesn't warm up you can expect that type of weather on the beaches with lots of fog.

Almost forgot you can tour the Anchor Steam brewery. Never been (again, only 19) but its on my checklist of breweries to visit when I'm of age. The website says they're booked through September but maybe you'll get lucky if you give em a call? Here's a list of other various breweries: http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=brewery tour&find_loc=San Francisco, CA

And just to fill you in on strip clubs the only one I've been to is Crazy Horse which is in a super sketch area. Its cheaper if you go early. Some of the girls are complete bitches, dunno if thats standard for stip clubs or what though. Just be careful if you're outside at night because its really sketchy. One time a bum came up to my friend and said "got any money?" and reached into my friend's hoodie pocket. My friend knocked him out clean with one punch and we all stood in awe for a second before someone screamed "run for it!" and we just hauled ass to the BART station.

If you want to hang out with Yuppies find a hotel in Cow Hollow and hang out around Chestnut street or Union street in the Marina District.

There's a lot of bars, restaurants and women.

This site is a pretty good source for the club scenes and local events.

Mitchell Brothers used to be the best strip club, but I'm not sure if they are still the standard. I know a lot of Warriors like hanging out at the Gold's Club.

There's a lot to do in SF. What are you into?

San Jose is the armpit of the Bay Area as thats where all the smog gathers. SF has it's issues to be sure, but I'll take it over most big cities like say Detroit

To the OP... I live in SF and though I'm not a strip club type, I do enjoy the bars, restaurants, museums, Giant's games, concert venues, and the outdoors here. I usually recommend a pre-noon walk or bike ride over the Golden Gate Bridge to visitors and/or maybe a drive up to the top of Twin Peaks as the sun goes down. The summer is the cold/foggy time of year here so bring along a jacket that does well in the wind and elements. Great food options abound all over the city... whatever you might want is here. I love North Beach for night time fun, but since you've done that at least once maybe give the Mission a try? It's a bit cheaper there and a happening area to bar hop. Sorry that I can't help you out with hotel suggestions.

A's are in town. If you are here the weekend of the 1st and 2nd of August, they are having special ceremonies honoring the greatest leadoff man of all time, Rickey Henderson, on his induction into the Hall of Fame.

Embarcadero Farmers Market is open several days a week, not sure, you can google it.

Do you like museums? If you are into either art or science, tons of museums, Pacific Science Center. Or you can sign up for a cooking class.

might be good....thinking of more traditional, only in SF type of things. baseball games are fun, wish the Giants were playing as that park looks cool.

Into tech...anything cool tech-wise there? any good stores?

This is a hike I recommend if you want to blaze and not run into a lot of tourists.

    http://sanfrancisco.about.com/od/environmentnature/qt/landendtrail.htm

Mission is a good spot to party too. Little bao bao is a chill spot for reggae and hip hop, but can get crowded. Next door is Beauty Bar which is a hot spot right now.

If you're into beer and good eats I recommend

    http://www.suppenkuche.com/

Just buy a brew for the bartender and they will hook you up.

My advice in SF is to not just plan on being at one place all night long. Most locals bar hop around and end up at a house party.
