They typically do appear in the press, and Philly isn't an any hurry to sign him. Why is that? They made the playoffs with him at the point.
How do you know they typically appear in the press? Are you privy to offers that don't appear in the press? If not, how do you know what fraction appears in the press? barfo
I read an article that Philly was interested in resigning Miller (that's a good sign) but only for 6 mil for 1 year. From what I gather, Miller wants 10 mil/yr and hated Philly . . . so Phily has been in a sign and trade mode since early negotiations and after every meeting since then the GM has said nothing has changed, they are still seeking a sign and trade with Miller. It was an article from a local Philly paper. I figure Miller has to be worth more than the MLE because if he was worth less, than that would take Philly out of the equation and Miller would just go to the highest bidder. Is my logic making sense . . . because my brain is tired.
Offers to UFAs, at least those thinking they deserve $10 million, do appear in the press. If Philly offered him the MLE, or any one else did, and he rejected it, I'd publicize it were I that team. Of course, Philly doesn't want him back, just like every other team with which he's ended a contract.
I like your info, and it makes sense. It appears that Philly leaked that they offered Miller the MLE, and he rejected it, so Philly put it in the papers. Makes sense to me. I don't think Miller is going to get anything more than the MLE, however. That's why a sign and trade for Blake at the MLE makes sense. It keeps cap space available.
Some do. Some probably don't. But then, you aren't that team, and they might just think differently than you. You don't know that. They might be trying to resign him. Just like Roy, the fact that a team doesn't offer a player everything the player's agent wants isn't a sign that they aren't interested at all. barfo
Anonymous GM = Mark Warkentein. It's the worst kept secret in the NBA. He's the lead needle in the sewing circle.
Honestly, how hard is to do a little fact checking? http://www.basketball-reference.com/fc/pgl.cgi?player=millean02&year=2009 show me the "frequent" 8+ turnover games, or the part where he shoots 2 for 11 all too often. He had two games with 8 turnovers and 8 games where he shot less than 30% from the field. Beyond that he shot 47% from the floor, had a 2.7 Assist to turnover ratio, got to the line 5 times per game and had an 18.6 PER. It's OK not to like a player or not be crazy about a potential deal, but it's a lot easier to take what you have to say seriously if it's at least somewhat couched in factual terms.
Another conversation between 76ers president and general manager Ed Stefanski and the agent for free agent guard Andre Miller ended yesterday with no change to the status quo. "We are still in the sign-and-trade mode," Stefanski said about his talk with Andy Miller, with whom he has spoken frequently since NBA free agency began. * * * According to an NBA source, the Sixers have not been exactly bombarded with offers for a sign-and-trade agreement involving Miller. The 33-year-old Miller, who was hoping to land a three-year contract in the $30 million range, was offered one year for about $6 million by the Sixers. http://www.philly.com/inquirer/sports/20090721_76ers_still_at_impasse_with_Andre_Miller.html
We have a poster saying the Philly did offer the MLE, according the the Philly press, and that Miller rejected it. Is that poster a liar? It appears they did try to resign him according to reports. Why do I upset you so much? It's odd.
Thanks for being a voice of reason. His numbers crush Kirk Hinrich's all over the place. His defense isn't as good as Kirk, or even his 3 ball, but he's far more efficient at everything else he does on the court and can actually create opportunities for other players on the court.
You said a sign and trade for Blake. How the fuck does that make sense dude? You're off your rocker. They'd rather pay the same money to Blake than Miller? Hallucination sucks.
Miller is ALREADY expired, what the fuck is the point in paying Blake an additional year if all you want is the relief? You make no sense.
He's overrated, old, and doesn't win. I'd rather have Steve Blake, so I'll pull back my hypothetical sign and trade offer.
