Can Andre Miller play in a non-running game? Serious question. And if not, does that mean Nate is now forced to run more? This I'd like to see.
One can only hope. With the athletes we've got on our team and now a guy like Miller at the point, we should. And it always makes games at the RG more exciting when we run the floor.
I always promote running when easy baskets are available. But I do not promote running for the sake of running. Team that depend on running do not win in the playoffs.
Wells it been a while, but he did play for Rick Majerus and they did make it to the championship game in a grind it out style. He can play the point in any style.
Well, if they don't push the ball more with Miller at the point we can finally all stop saying Nate wants the team to up the tempo.
More running? Yes. But as long as Brandon is our best player, we're never going to be a running team. And that's ok with me, I'm more entertained by winning than running.
I don't think the Blazers will be a running team, or anything of the sort. But I think McMillan will be happy to let Miller, an accomplished fast break ignitor, push the ball up the floor for easy buckets/free throws on long rebounds and quick outlets. Miller, Aldridge, Batum and Rudy are all made for running a break. Roy, of course, has the athleticism to be a fine finisher on the break. And Oden's athleticism makes him a great secondary break player (not to mention his rebounding would be a key to starting breaks in the first place, so long as he can make good outlet passes). The team definitely has the personnel to run in a limited fashion.
This is where my head is at. Miller might actually get the team running after stops which seems to be Nate's mantra all of last year (to not much effect). I hope it works out.
