I'd be quite surprised by that. A WCF appearance wouldn't surprise me a lot, though.

Completely agree...I should have been more clear and added "fueled the belief of some (myself not included)" :D

I love the approach personally. I would have been happier with Milsap but Miller fits well.

    :drumroll:

It's good that Nate took to him right away. Maybe we'll actually see a bit of opportunistic running this year. Nate was pleading for it sometimes last season, and I don't think he'll ever have to ask Miller twice.

Plenty of times...outside of the one time I got lucky and finished eight spots out of some serious money on a Party Poker 2000+ person contest I've pretty much sucked. :D

We looked damn good last year against LA. We look even better today. They're the favorites, but I expect large jumps in achievements from Oden, Aldridge, Batum, Webster, and Fernandez. Add to this that we're replacing Blake with Miller and Rodriguez with Blake, I wouldn't be shocked at all that we are the Orlando of next season.

If they lose Odom, I can see it better. Otherwise, remember that they got less out of Bynum than they could have, due to injury. So LA actually does have some upside over last year's performance.

I guess we'll see, but going from first round to WCF is a massive jump. An even larger jump, getting past the defending champions, is probably asking too much.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Blazers to Sign Andre Miller

Another thought: Miller and Blake buys them time, and very productive time at that, to find the heir to their PG throne. We now have Bayless, Koponen, and Mills in the cooker. We now have another draft and off-season. Will any of them prove to be worthy of taking the helm? Maybe. Maybe not. But, we got time.

For now, PG is not a concern. Getting a banger or another SF, now that's a different question.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Blazers to Sign Andre Miller

I think we have Cunningham, Outlaw, Pendergraph, and Oden that can all play the PF spot DEPENDING on the opposing player. I think we are fine. Those are 4 entirely different types of players that can guard against different types of PF's. (Mostly of which will also be back ups) So I think we are just fine for those 12 -14 minutes. Unless of course LMA gets hurt. Then we are hurting.

True. We're a unique case though. The league really hasn't ever seen this much accumulated young and maturing talent before either. It was good enough last year to give us the the 2nd best point differential in the West. It's not a suicidal leap to think that another year of seasoning and a couple of significant upgrades to arguably our weakest link, pushes us past, even if by the smallest of margins, the Lakers.

For some reason I think we are going to be much happier with this signing than we would have with Turkaglu. Miller should be great for Oden, and maybe those alley-oops to Rudy will be back even without Sergio.

why? both Martell and Batum are career 37% 3 point shooters. Besides an exaggerated reputation as a shooter, what does Martell bring to the table that Batum doesn't?

Miller went to the Nuggets and helped improved the team from 17 to 43 wins.

Yeah, you gotta admit aside from being a Western conference rival Houston looks most prepared to be a trade partner. They have a glut of SF's (Battier, Ariza, Budinger) and PF's (Scola, Landry, Hayes, Dorsey). They need a SG or a C.

I seriously don't see another team out there that has so much of what we need (Backup PF or SF). We could do two seperate deals (Wallace and a PF) but that would be harder now that we don't have cap. What we do have is tons of trade assets. Especially if we get a PF/C or excellent backup PF in return.
