http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=8162634 What will those whacky crazy go lucky Christians do next?
I would dare say this is no genuine believer. He's a deeply perveted person. I hope they throw away the key.
That's "Christian." Singular. And I think it's a safe bet that his belief system doesn't quite fit the definition.
Seconded. Oh, and I agree with BlazerWookee let's be fair this guy wasn't really a Christian. That is a good lesson though that just because someone is a Christian preacher or other high-muckety muck that doesn't make them immune to human foibles, or in this case depravities. Not fair to lump all Christians together here, but also a good example of the kind of false christians that the bible warned against. That's the funny thing about revelations, it's the false CHRISTIANS you are supposed to look out for, yet it's always the muslims or gays or godless liberal tax-raisers that are pointed to as possible anti-christs.
Lame. I decided to stop calling myself a Christian as I don't care for labels and don't want to be associated with the hate and judgemental attitude, as well as things like this, that Christians are generally known for. I have a personal relationship with God, and that is good enough for me.
Yep. Terrible analogy, but..............
You and I are on the same page. I've been on the 'fuck-organized-religion' bandwagon for quite some time.
Christians aren't generally known to be hateful and judgmental. Christians are generally PORTRAYED as being hateful and judgmental by people who are hateful and judgmental.
I have a sexual relationship with God, and that is good enough for me. Although I do cheat on Her regularly, with the supermodels. But since I haven't been hit by a thunderbolt, I guess She must be ok with that. We don't speak of it. barfo
That's ridiculous. The history of the Abrahamic (Judaisim, Christianity and Islam) faiths is easily the most violent in the world there is really no doubt about it. There were a few pagan groups that were much worse then the Abrahamic faiths but lets be fair. The Crusades the rape of the New World, Chattel Slavery on and on and on. Christians to this day have some groups that are extremely intolerant and stuck in the middle ages. There are many Christian groups that are wonderful and seem to follow the tenets of Jesus quite faithfully. I would argue they are the majority at this point in time. However, I myself have seen plenty of bigotry from Christians, just as I have from virtually every religious group. It's mostly the elite and a streak of radicals who use the term Christianity to shield them when they do hateful bigoted things. This is true of every group and there is nothing particularly special about a minority of Christians being hateful and judgemental now days. Much of that was a sort of historical relativism, if I may be so bold, where everyone was killing, raping and conquesting as much they could. There were of course a few exceptions among the "uncivilized" or indigenous people amongst whom you could find some truly peaceful cultures. This particular post trying to smear "Christians" because of that actions of an obvious psycho is silly. As easy to attribute this to his race or gender and also equally false. However, to claim Christians are magically free of being hateful is absurd. No group is immune and no group is special in that regard.
That said, though, I would say there is such a thing as calling oneself a Christian as opposed to actually being a Christian. Of course, only God knows for sure.
