My friend (middle school days) had parents who were Jesus freak wingnuts with rules I couldn't believe. He was 14 and was still being sent to the corner. They couldn't watch anything but the Christian channel or Christian movies. No music other than what was being played on K-Love. They dug around my backpack one weekend when I spent the night and found my Bone Thugs N Harmony CD. As we got back from the mall they sat us down and made us watch a Christian movie called "Highway to Hell" about how all non-Christian music is from the Devil himself. We couldn't play most video games in that house. Only puzzles and what not. They took us to their church, hours away in Sweethome, Oregon, and it sucked so fucking bad. Before the services everyone met up in the basement for a TWO HOUR lecture/convo about the bible. Then we had to sit for another 2 hours for the regular church service. These people were straight from 'Jesus Camp'. Horrible experience. I didn't take anything from those four hours. I literally zoned out in my mind the entire time. Talk about whacky Christian stuck in the middle ages...
It's unfortunate that people get lumped into categories because of the actions of a few bad seeds that end up making the national media.
Um, I could be way off here (though I doubt it), but I don't think that just attaching the name "Christian" to your documented cult, with heretical Christian teachings and a ministry of creating "followers of Tony Alamo" rather than "followers of Christ" makes him Christian--it makes him "Alamonian".
