Has any modern NBA team ever been inactive in the offseason? Ever? Because I've read that teams have been "inactive", and yet it seems that would be impossible based on how you are all applying the term. Ed O.
How so? You're saying no modern team has ever gone an off-season without offering a free agent a contract? I don't have the research to back it up, but it seems quite likely that there have been teams "inactive" by the definition of making no formal offers to free agents in an off-season.
Active literally? Nate going to visit Hedo, Hedo coming to Portland, Hedo getting a ride back to the jet. Active otherwise? FedExing an offer sheet to Millsap, waiting a week for the obvious match by Utah, a few phone calls to Roy's agent lowballing Roy, hopefully at least one call to LMA's agent to let him know LMA at least exists, and a week in Vegas to watch the end of the roster players try to show a spark. Oh, and an invitation to Pooh Jeter for fall camp because he has a shot to make the roster. Seems like a nice summer vacation to me.
How many transactions had the Blazers have? Have they acquired a lot of players? Am I missing something? Or are some of you attacking my word choice for no fucking reason? Ed O.
I thought I was merely summarizing the summer thus far. I think the Blazers have been active, though also they've been unsuccessful in their activity. The caveat, of course, it that perhaps the activity toward Roy/LMA is supposed to piss those guys off to the point they plan an escape. In that case, the activity will actually yield a result.
I was just thinking of that. Outside of Miami and Portland, every other team in the NBA has added either a new player or first round draft pick to their rosters since the end of the season. Not saying all additions are for the better, though. It seems like we've done a lot, but in actuality, we've done very little this off season.
Man, we need another sports team in town. We get the same material from Wheels at Work, BFT, Courtside....nothing separates them. Also, Mike Rice is getting harder to listen to. His whole Merline bit is so lame.
