Bobby Lashley will begin a pro wrestling career with TNA soon. So we have a pro wrestler turned MMA fighter turned hybrid wrestler/fighter. Lashley will film TNA for a week or two a month while focusing the remainder of his time on MMA. TNA films in bulk at Universal Studios Florida and Lashley trains MMA in Coconut Creek. Lashley is still expected to compete in MMA every three-four months, as most fighters do. Pro wrestling will provide Lashley with a big paycheque on the side but it increases his risk of injury and is making some ponder his commitment to both professions. http://www.tnawrestling.com/content/view/1597/84/
That definitely doesn't help his case among MMA fans, and the UFC. However I understand this because the paychecks are probably bigger in pro wrestling for him right now, and he wants to build his mma career slowly. There is a double standard for past MMA athletes that came from Pro Wrestling, and current ones. But I doubt the UFC will ever sign him while he is doing Pro Wrestling though.
I think the UFC has told him they are interested, and Lashley knows, but he wants to build his record first. He'll get a solid deal once he gets to the UFC, and probably not do Pro Wrestling anymore.
